Welcome to the the launch of the Clarabelle Inspirational Online Lifestyle Magazine.

I always wanted to start my own lifestyle magazine and what once started as a Clarabelle Blog to share my poetry and other creative writings with yourself, has now organically and naturally grown and evolved into the CLARABELLE LIFEYSTYLE MAGAZINE.

This feels like a natural progression for me from inspirational daily blogger to the next chapter of my book.  I have BIG PLANS for this Clarabellle Magazine and I hope you will stay on this inspirational journey with me.

Snow Glow

I have a right “snow glow” at the moment. What’s a snow glow I hear you asking? Well, I just made the phrase up this morning as I was happily trudging through the winter snow here in the Highlands of Scotland. So my interpretation of a snow glow is having the feeling of that clean, crisp winter freshness living and breathing inside of you. It kinda feels like you’re a snowflake dancing in the wind and when I think of that thought it inspires the poem below:

Snow Glow Face

The freshest feeling,
On my snow glow face.
A wintry perspective,
A higher place.
The Highlands of Scotland,
Clear out the old,
A new way of living,
It’s precious gold.
I treasure this experience,
More everyday,
I’m living a dream,
In a magical way.

Make the Journey

Make the journey,
The one you desire.
That fills your heart,
Fuels your fire.
A path of hope,
Abundance for you,
Breathtakingly joyous,
Through and through.
Get out your map,
Discover it all,
This road is for you,
This is your call.

Trip of a Lifetime

Take a trip of a lifetime, you know the place you’ve always wanted to go to, plan making that trip now. Even if it takes you 5 years to get there, start planning NOW how you’re going to do it.

Think about how amazing it will be when you get there, see yourself there, having the BEST time of your life, how great does it feel?

Life is made up of experiences, so try your best to have more experiences that take your breath away.

Where do you want to go to?

New York at Christmas Time?
Graceland, to be inspired by the spirit of Elvis?
Route 66, a truly amazing train journey?
San Francisco, to stand close to the Golden Gate Bridge?
Iceland, to watch the stunning Northern Lights?
The snowy Cairngorm Mountains, Scotland?
A luxury world cruise?
Watch the sunset from the top of Table Mountain in Cape Town.

WOW, I bet you’re getting really excited, just thinking about it, I know I am. I have been extremely lucky to have been to some of the above places, inspirational journeys that really did take my breath away.

Start making plans today, I see you there and you are having the BEST time EVER.

Little words of inspiration to move you, love Clarabelle

Edinburgh Marathon 2015

The Experience

So this year I take on the challenge of running my 4th marathon. I am super excited because the whole journey from start to finish makes me feel so good. There are so many positives from training for and completing a marathon, they actually live inside your heart forever…….they really do. The experience is so amazing and highly emotional (in a good way), that you’ll never forget it.

Love Running

I love running outdoors and I love the challenge of a marathon…..you never get the same experience twice and you find out how strong your heart and mind really is.

Fast Course

This year I am going to try and run the marathon under 5 hours, this will be a tough challenge but Edinburgh is a fast course (so I’m told) and it would be so good to achieve this in my home Country.

So my marathon history to date is:

2007 New York City Marathon, time 5 hours and 1 minute
2010 London Marathon, time 5 hours and 56 minutes
2013 Loch Ness Marathon, time 5 hours and 12 minutes
2015 Edinburgh Marathon, time TBC ūüôā

Go on set yourself a goal this year, a real challenge, something that will change your life forever…….fancy doing a marathon?

Keep running towards your dreams.

Love to you, Clarabelle

Icy Puddles

I was out walking the other day and took the photo below, I just thought the scenery around me was stunning. Beautiful Bonny Scotland, on a winter’s day.

Icy Puddles

Icy puddles,
Reflecting on me.
Frosty edges,
Pure beauty.
Landscape wonders,
Spellbound eyes,
A magical mirror,
Full of surprise.

I Spied With My Little Eye

I spied with my little eye,
Something beginning with me.
I looked at my life,
And discovered the vision I see.
It was colourful and bright,
All I wanted it to be.
Dancing and Smiling forever,
Like waves of gratitude in the sea.
I spied with my little eye,
Something beginning with happy.

Touched by Emotion

Touched by emotion,
Loving life.
Freeing my spirit,
From worry and strife.

Keeping it together,
Hoping for all.
Rising faith,
Breaks down the brick wall.

In the twist of the wind,
No enemies appear.
All friends together,
Filled with good cheer.

An unfulfilled heart,
Takes you beyond.
Frozen miracles,
Reflected in the pond.

Catch the light,
Let it shine all around.
Mystic and magic,
Will soon be found.

How are you?

Hi there, this is a rather more informal blog posting, I was just wondering how you were, are you doing okay out there or maybe you’re doing even better than okay? So, please may I ask you,

How are you today?

I’d like to know more about you. ūüôā

Love Clarabelle

PS: I’m happily enjoying a lovely cup of Earl Grey tea at the moment, and it’s, well, just lovely.

Snowy Cairngorms, Scotland, A Wintry Wonderland

I had indeed a very very beautiful 2. 5 hour walk yesterday in amongst the snowy mountains of the Cairngorms, it was absolutely beautiful and to top it all off I spotted a stunning little doe deer, it was such a lovely surprise. I took a 1 minute video almost 2 hours into my journey. Look at how stunning Bonny Scotland is.

Experience Life

A Good Life

A good life can give you all the stability and certainty you need….that I feel, maybe a staple foundation for a good life…..you know, you have a safe and secure routine and it kinda works out alright for you – I know this because I’ve been there…..for 20 years I had a good life like that.

A Great Life

A great life, a super duper amazing life, may often give you much less of the above – less stability, less certainty, less security however for me, this great life offers so much more, more excitement, more freedom, more creativity, more time for myself, more love for what I do, more giving, more sharing, more authenticity, more surprises, more adventures, more new experiences, more new people, more fun, more exploration……wow, the list goes on.

A Gamble

So today I gamble my “good life” for a “great life” and you know what, it really is working for me right now. It was a brave step forward but I know in my heart of hearts it was definitely the right thing to do for me. Not everyone sees it that way but this is MY LIFE and I have to live it and experience it my way…..the great way!!

Are you living a “good life” or a “great life”?

I trust you know the answer to this one immediately.

Lots of love to you, Clarabelle

Fairytale Ending

Do you believe in Fairytale endings?… I certainly do, you’ve got to. You’ve got to believe that everything you are working towards on the pathway to your dreams is going to manifest just the way you want it to or even better than that.

Your Fairytale ending is the ultimate vision you want for your future, even if it only feels like a whisper in the wind at the moment. Keep digging, keep trying, keep putting the right energy out there and something’s got to catch, like a ripple effect on the water, only this ripple is connected to your Fairytale ending.

See your reflection in the lake, see it as a mirror image of the person you are becoming, your future self dancing joyfully in your Fairytale ending.

Do something today to get you closer to your dreams…….keep up the great work and never stop putting in the effort that you need to put in until you get there.

Do you believe in Fairytale endings? I do. ūüôā

Happy days, Clarabelle

When Will You Get There?

Let me tell you something, I was thinking about this, only this evening. If you’re looking for the end, if you’re wanting the process to “hurry up” then whatever it is that you are doing, may not be for you.

I write to you, everyday I write, I never look for the ending, I never think, when is this piece of writing going to end. The reason being is that I love it so much, love never wants to end, it’s continuous it’s unbreakable, the bond only gets stronger.

So if you’re looking into the distance and questioning, when will you get there…….maybe you have to change the question…….and if you have to change the question, then I guess you already know the answer.

Never ever will I stop writing to you, because even when my soul has passed on to another dimension, my spirit still shines in you, the reader and this then inspires you…..and the light continues to shine on.

You may only be one candle, but this one candle, has the power to light up the Universe.

Please remember how empowering you can be.

Light up your world and you light up the world of everyone around you.

I see your light, love Clarabelle

Write Don’t Type

letter writing

Write Don’t Type!!

As I “type” this ūüôā I urge you today to handwrite a letter to someone. ¬†By writing a letter to a friend or family member, to me, it actually feels much more meaningful, it gives it much more sincerity and thoughtfulness. ¬†That’s not to say that an email can’t be, but I just think it is really nice now and again to handwrite a letter to a special person in your life.

Today I had the choice to send an email or handwrite a letter and for the first time in a long time, I did the latter…..I sat down at my desk and wrote a letter to the person. ¬†Now I did deliberately make more time for it and yes my hand was a little sore after filing 6 pages but, you know what, it felt really really good, I felt that I was putting some beautiful loving energy onto that paper and now that person will receive that lovely energy even more so when they read.

Who do you want to write a letter to today?  I encourage you to take some time out of your beautiful busy life and handwrite a letter to someone important in your life.  Believe me you will receive many benefits by doing this and so will the person receiving the letter, I am so sure of that.

Happy writing, love Clarabelle

Clarabelle's Musings

Dedicated to Paratrooper Steve

Following on from my previous post, I dedicate this poem to Steve who is sadly no longer here:

A Paratrooper….

I saw an Ad
To write to you
You wanted a friend
Another focus too.

In January 97,
You said “Hello”
“My name is Steve
I have a sore toe.

From all the marching,
And running too,
It bleeds sometimes,
But this is what I do.

I jump from planes,
It was scary at first.
But now these skyfalls
Quench my thirst.

I love to travel,
I love the sun
I’m studying like crazy.
When not with a gun.

A paratrooper by title,
I was 18 at the start,
5 years later,
A strong soldier with a heart.

Sometimes I’m lonely,
A lot of times I’m not.
So busy with my life,
I make good of what I’ve got.

I love my fitness,
It’s important to me.
I try to improve,
Be the best I can be.

Sorry if this letter,
Arrived a little late.
But I’ll send you some photos,
Just a little more to wait.

I love to get your mail,
Please write soon Claire.
Keep smiling, soldier on.
Love from Steve, take care.”

31 of these letters,
I treasure with happy tears
So sad that you are gone Steve,
Thank you for those two years.

It’s Hard

IMG_3527.JPG

Every moment is a moment to change, don’t give up the fight, there are hands and many hearts helping you forever. ¬†Keep going my friend. ¬†Love Clarabelle.

It’s Hard to Believe

It’s hard to believe,
in the torrential rain.
That the sun will shine,
and free you from pain.

It’s hard to let go,
when love pulls you in.
But a one sided love,
can never win.

It’s hard to smile,
when you’re hurting inside,
when the river runs deep,
and you’ve lost all pride.

It’s hard to be you,
when you feel so drained,
emotional pain,
keeping you chained.

But believe my heart,
believe what it says.
The rainbow is ready,
and the Angel prays.

She flies above your home,
drying up your tears.
She sends you much love,
and banishes the fears.

And as you sleep,
in bed tonight.
the little Angel of love,
Shines on you bright.

With a warmth like no other.
and a pure glowing heart.
Sad times move on
And you’ll have a fresh start.

Double Rainbow

Today, I went a long 9 mile round trip walk to the White Horse Hill in Uffington, Oxfordshire. I wanted to view the beautiful morning sunrise from the top of the hill, however it was a little too cloudy for that. Never mind, I saw something even better on the walk back, a beautiful double rainbow, wow, it truly made my day.

Rainbow days to you, love Clarabelle

On your journey of life, don’t forget to watch the morning sunrise. There is just something about a stunning morning sunrise that just puts you in real awe of the moment. Tomorrow morning, I urge you to wake up early in time to watch the beautiful morning sunrise and in that moment remember how you feel.

Wishing you the best of days today.

From Zero to 26,000+

successful blog
26,000 plus Visitors

Wow, I am so very delighted that this blog has now received over 26,000 visitors since it all began in April 2012. Now 26,000 people, that’s a lot of people and I would like to thank you all for joining my journey and showing an interest in my articles.

The Key to a Successful Blog

I think the key to a successful blog is to truly write about things you are passionate about because I feel this shows throughout your writing. ¬†If you stick to that, then you want to and look forward to writing blog posts, you are excited about sharing your thoughts with the world. ¬†In this mode then, there is no need for the “push” effect because it’s “pull” all the way, like a magnet, a strong attraction to continue to write and share.

So if you’re thinking about starting up your own blog or wanting to stay in the “pull” effect, write about your passions, because when you write about this stuff, you will feel good and readers will also feel good reading it too.

This is just one key to building a successful blog and having people camp out in your blog for a while.  Thank you and Happy Camping!!

Lots of love,

Clarabelle

Keep the Faith

keep the faith

Keep the faith my friends, keep the faith my friends…..such a good statement I said it twice. ¬†Faith for me, is peace in your heart forever and if you mix that with love, true love, wow you have everything you will ever need to go forward in life. So I will say it again, “Keep the Faith”, maybe you just needed to hear that today. ¬†Lots of love to you, Clarabelle.

On this journey of life….

beach and birds

Poetic reflections on the journey of life…..

On This Journey of Life

On this journey of life,
there are twists and turns.
Happy moments,
as the candle burns.
The sweetest temptation,
and all that’s good.
Sunshine and sunsets,
and delicious food.
On this journey of life,
there is also some sad.
Lots of good,
can turn to bad.
Tears may fall,
on sleepless nights.
Friends disagree,
and there’s family fights.
On this journey of life,
you get one shot.
You live it your way,
or give away a lot.
You can be kind.
and share your heart.
Love may last forever,
or tear apart.
On this journey of life,
I want you to know.
I want you to shine,
and abundantly grow.
I want you to be,
all that you can.
That strong Superwoman,
or courageous Superman.

True Story – Making It Happen

Clarabelle Photo Shoot

True Story

I want to tell you a true story of how you can achieve whatever you want to achieve if you really put your mind to it – even if you have no experience at all in that field of interest.

The Beginning of Clarabelle Music

In March 2013 I purchased myself a second-hand keyboard because I wanted to create some instrumental music. ¬†I couldn’t play the keyboard at the time but I wanted to learn – teach myself. ¬†I created about nine instrumentals within about a two week period – I couldn’t read music, I just wrote numbers on the keys with pencil and “felt the music” and I also just memorised the keys I was playing.

Clarabelle's Keyboard
Clarabelle’s Keyboard
Tony…

I wanted to transfer each musical piece onto my laptop but I didn’t have the right connecting cables. ¬†So I went into a shop in Glasgow City Centre, RS Sound & Light and got chatting to the owner of the shop, Tony. ¬†Tony was a very warm and inviting man and he sold me the cables I needed. ¬†Whilst chatting to Tony he asked me why I wanted the cables and I told him I was going to be making up my own songs – I said to him “eventually I will have my own CD Album”. ¬†Tony said that this was great and that when the CD Album is ready, to bring it into him and he would play it in his shop and also pass the CD onto other DJs he knew so they would also play it for me.

RS Sound & Light
Tony’s Shop in Glasgow
So Inspiring

This was so inspiring for me because although I had very little music experience (practically none), Tony didn’t disregard my idea and aspirations – he encouraged and supported me with it. ¬†That was it, I was on a mission……..a passionate, exciting, true to myself mission of giving Tony my CD Album – I could see that vision, I could feel it and I believed it.

At this point I hadn’t written any songs……but here’s what happened.

From May 2013 to September 2013 I wrote 25 songs…..from the heart, including the melodies. ¬†Between October to December I chose four of my favourite songs which I had only recorded acapella style on Youtube and hired musicians in Ireland (Denis Kilty), Canada (Gary Stitt) and New York (Shako) to create a simple piano and guitar backing track based on my melodies. ¬†In January 2014, I went to the Professional Recording Studio, Reeltime Music and recorded my very first EP, Hearts Apart, which contains these original four songs – I had never been to a recording studio before either!!

Clarabelle Heart's Apart

Across The Globe

Two weeks later I had released my first single, “Runaway Love” on iTunes and other music platforms across the globe and one month after that I was holding my newly created CD Album in my hands – I cried….my tears were of joy, love and pride in what I had accomplished. ¬†One of the first things I thought of was, I can give Tony my CD now.

Runaway Love, Clarabelle

Tony Helped Me

Almost exactly a year later to the date when I first went into Tony’s shop, I very proudly handed him a copy of my CD Album and also a copy for his daughter. ¬†Prior to that, Tony had also helped me choose my first PA system and is also supporting me as Professional Compere for my first ever public Gig on 3rd May this year in my home village of Carfin…….how exciting.

EP HJearts Apart by Clarabelle

So Grateful

I am so grateful for all the help from Tony at RS Sound & Light in Glasgow City Centre and everyone else who has been involved in helping me achieve what I have achieved so far…..I certainly could not have done it without them. ¬†A massive thank you also goes out to my best friend Donna Marie Dick who has been amazing in helping me co-ordinate my first two live Gigs in May – she truly is a shining star.

Carrick Spa, Loch Lomond
Donna (L) and Clarabelle

Special thanks also goes out to my wonderful photographer who took some amazing shots of me for my music portfolio (he’s still a bit shy, so doesn’t want me to mention his name yet). ¬†There are lots of people I need to thank personally and I will…..not sure if they all want to be mentioned here on this blog, so I will protect their identity for the moment, but I know they know I am so grateful for their contribution.

Clarabelle Photo Shoot

So Blessed

So there you have it, that’s a short summary of the truth from my musical journey, how amazing is that, I feel so blessed for everything.

I want YOU to believe in YOU, believe in your DREAMS, believe YOU can make them happen and have faith that the right people will cross your path to help you.

I had many barriers in the way…….far to many to mention but when I look at how far I have come I can only ever feel very VERY happy.

I wish you forever happiness, I truly do.  Thank you for being here.

Lots of love Clarabelle

  • Mexico

  • London
  • Wales
  • Scotland

Heart, Mind and Soul

It’s so wonderful that I created something from my heart, mind and soul that I can now send to people anywhere in the world. ¬†Isn’t this just wonderful because last year at this time I had no idea I would be doing this, it just evolved from this blog by doing poetry and then buying a second hand keyboard. ¬†I was also inspired by some other people along the way, people that were already singing and just doing what they love and putting themselves out there. ¬†This journey truly is a dream come true and who knows where it will lead to, but all I know is that I am following my heart by doing this and I hope that it touches other peoples’ hearts along the way.

Back to My Roots

I am so looking forward to performing at my two live Gigs in May this year in Scotland…..I will be singing my original songs in a local venue in the little Village of Carfin, where I was brought up as a child…..isn’t it funny, I’m going back to my roots…..it’s like I’ve come full circle.

Follow your heart……what does that truly mean for you?

Wishing you a very beautiful day today,

Lots of love, Clarabelle

The Story of Life

best days

What’s Your Story?

What’s your story? ¬†Where is your heart’s passion taking you? ¬†Today, in this moment, tomorrow is unknown, with no guarantees of what will be, until it happens. ¬†You have right now, you have this moment, yes, pinch yourself, this one, right now, this moment…..to do something that is going to enhance the story of your life. ¬†This next poem is all about that., I hope you like it. ¬†Much love to you today, Clarabelle

The Story of Life

The story of life,
its twists and turns,
a loving a heart,
a flame that burns.
Head in the clouds,
Dreams at my door.
Living life curiously,
wonders to explore.
To never give up,
To never give in.
A stubborn mind,
Or an attitude to win.
For all you have,
Is here and now.
It’s in this moment,
Take a bow.
For what you seek,
Is seeking you.
Words of wisdom,
do come true.
So believe in your soul,
Have faith in the dark.
Your story of life.
Is making its mark.

Where are you going?

Jerry Nelson Photography

Destination Unknown

One thing I have discovered for sure, is that if you don’t have clarity on where you are going, chances are you might just go around in circles. ¬†It’s so easy to drift when your destination is unknown, so I would encourage anyone who feels like they are in “drifting” mode to take time out to really answer that question for themselves.

WHERE ARE YOU GOING?

It may seem like such a simple question but it can be a difficult one to answer and/or even a more challenging one to pursue. ¬†You know what you’ve got to do though and I think this is a good place to start.

Please also ensure that the destination is in alignment with your core values, what and who is most important to you in your life, your passions, wants and desires.

I would love to hear all about it, please keep me posted or better still send me a postcard from that beautiful destination, yes that one place that just feels like home, like no other. ¬†ūüôā

Lots of love to you today, Clarabelle

Growing Fast, Thank You

Clarabelle Blog hits

I Am So Amazed!!

8 days ago I shared with you my absolute delight of reaching 17,000 blog hits¬†but I honestly wasn’t expecting to be updating you again today, yes only 8 days later, now celebrating 18,000 + blog hits – wow, I am so amazed!!

This month in December has been particularly successful for blog visitors and views, with the highest ever number of daily, weekly and monthly stats since the blog’s birth in April 2012.

Rapid Increase

I have noticed that the Search Engines seem to be finding my blog more, which I feel is the biggest reason for the rapid increase and I am so glad people are liking my posts too.  This just inspires me even more and more to keep going and sharing meaningful posts with you from my creative spirit, heart and soul.

So I offer up to you a massive thank YOU for being here, it just wouldn’t be the same without YOU.

Big Plans

I have big plans for this Clarabelle Blog and I am so delighted that it is going from strength to strength, for what once started out as a hobby and a “nice thing to do” is evolving into something really magical for me and hopefully for you.

My Heart to You

Love to you, Clarabelle

Every Day is a Learning Curve

In the midst of silence

Another Curve Ball

We must never think that we know it all, never, because just around the corner is always another lesson, yes indeed, here comes another curve ball – oh my where did that come from?

My day to day interaction with people is usually 100% good almost all of the time, mainly because I genuinely do love people and I have a lot of time for them. ¬†Recently though, I feel I have slipped up, just a little bit, but it doesn’t matter I have still slipped up, but the good thing is I am fully of aware of it, almost instantly and that I feel is tremendous progress. ¬†If I was unaware of it, then that indeed, I believe would be much more dangerous, especially with the job I am in, working with people every day.

Please don’t get me wrong, I have never thought I have known it all, never ever ever so I just want to reiterate that but I guess I have let emotions rule the roost and take over……never a good response that one. ¬†I read a quote recently and it said “If you speak when you’re angry, you’ll make the best speech you’ll ever regret” – such wise words and so very true indeed.

So I guess I am owning up to not getting it right all of the time, I guess I really am human after all hahahahahahah.  These types of life lessons you cannot learn in a classroom or on a training course, these are the true lessons from life itself Рthe experiences from the experience of life.

So as I have let my conscience loose into this world i.e. this Blog, it leaves me with a sober thought of, “things can only get better” for indeed I have learned from this and I am getting better. ¬†I will continue to develop on this journey of life to reach my Best Ever Self.….some how though, I feel this is a never ending journey – not in a bad way, I believe in such a good way, always learning, always giving and always loving.

So I will leave you with my final thoughts on this one:

“When a curve ball comes hurling towards you, be prepared to miss the ball but catch the lifetime lesson.”

Thank you for reading this post, this one felt a bit like self therapy (actually all my posts do), so thanks for being here.

Love Clarabelle

Please let me introduce you to Jerry Nelson, Guest Blogger from www.journeyamerica.org

Here is a little bit about the truly wonderfully inspiring Jerry (extract from his blog):

Jerry Nelson is an internationally recognized photojournalist.

His work has appeared in a wide variety of publications and news outlets including USAToday, CNN, Huffington Post, Upsurge, CBS, Dream Row, Earthwalkers and others.
He photographs and licenses images for all manner of commercial and editorial use as well as selling through this website.

Nelson writes, “I realize the dreams to travel were not mine alone. I have friends that have dreamed of traveling and trekking since the days that we all roamed the woods around Hot Springs, Virginia. ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬†
***
I realize that most of those friends will never have the opportunity to journey. Life gets in the way sometimes. But I have tried to share the majesty, intimacy and timelessness of places in my photographs in a way I hope everyone can relate to. I’ve tried to capture the reality of my childhood imaginations and share them with you. I realize that despite having grown up with these dreams, nobody needs to go on trips like I do.¬†

But as we work through the daily routine of life at home, sometimes it helps to know that we could go. That it’s all really there.¬†

Better yet, I hope my photographs inspire a few of you to actually follow your dreams and take your journey. I want to remind everyone that ordinary working people can visit remote places like I have. They do it all the time.

These are not expensive or difficult places to explore if you travel independently and stay with the locals.

And of course, there are endless experiences to be had in the wilderness areas of your own backyard.

You can’t begin a journey if you don’t step out. There is nothing mysterious about a rucksack. All you need are a couple changes of clothes, some hard earned time off and less money than you think.¬†

Snake River Canyon Idaho
Snake River Canyon Idaho
Get out there with me and watch the ravens fly through the dazzling glow of a remote slot canyon, watch the northern lights dance over the snows of Denali, walk with the lions and tigers in Lujan, roam the barrios in Buenos Aires looking for the next photograph, stand in the plaza as the Pope gets installed, watch in amazement during the Prayer Dance of the Native Cultural Center in Tennessee, break bread with veterans from the Falkland Islands war, listen for the choppers at the M*A*S*H set in Malibu, drift on The Snake River as we pass The Grand Tetons, stay silent in the Sonoran Desert as we wait for the Mexican drug cartel to appear, break bread with the Shoshone in Idaho, walk a knife-edge ridge in the Smokies and sit around the campfire in the Ozarks with other veterans. Fish for Pirrhana in the Amazon, watch autumn leaves fall in a gentle snowstorm in Patagonia, stand with me as 300 buffalo stampede towards us in Eusick, Washington, marvel at a palm tree swaying dark against a billion stars while camping on a moonless night in the middle of the South Pacific, sail a 16th century ship through the sound into open water, be ’embedded’ with OccupyDC during the winter, live with rugged miners in even more rugged Appalachia and drink Dr. Pepper on the front porch of the old Hatfield homestead in Mingo County.¬†

It’s all there.¬†

And the earth needs people who travel this way, who earn their time with its treasures, and promote its conservation.
***
Time is the most precious commodity we actually own.”

Below is Jerry’s Guest Blog Post which he wrote especially for this Clarabelle Blog:

Life Goes On

It grey the morning I stepped outside the door in a small town close to Roswell, New Mexico, on December 17, 2006.  I shifted the backpack on my shoulders and walked to the end of the drive.  Adjusting the straps again, I stepped into the street and walked to the corner.  Looking back one more time, shifting the pack again, I walked down the street, through the town and across America.

I’m a Vietnam Veteran and while I didn’t see as much stuff as some others did, I was affected by the war and its aftermath.¬† After keeping feelings, emotions and nightmares bottled up for years, I was admitted to a psychiatric hospitel in Staunton, Virginia where I was diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.¬† Ten days in the psych ward with nothing to do but read ended up being a blessing.

I came across an old issue of National Geographic that had an article about hiking the Appalchian Trail.¬† That was what I needed to do.¬† That’s what I wanted to do.¬† Get out in the woods, get away from everything and everyone I knew.¬† Alone with just my thoughts and the Creator for company.¬† It never happened.¬† Sometimes life gets in the way and for years there was always a reason not to pursue my dream:¬† my wife she…my bills they…my job it…¬† Well, you know how it goes.

In September 2005 my wife of 31 years filed for divorce.¬† I didn’t want it so I sat on the paperwork hoping she would have a change of heart.¬† She never did, and in April 2006 I signed the documents and handed them over.¬† Later that year some friends who were living in New Mexico invited me out to spend the holidays with them so I wouldn’t have to be alone.¬† With nothing better to do, I went.¬† I got there on December 16 and that night felt the God of my understanding say I could take my walk.

I got to Washington DC on June 30th, 2007.¬† Since then I’ve continued to travel, write and take pictures.¬† You can see my work on my website, www.JourneyAmerica.org.¬† I’m always encouraging people to follow my travels and challenging them to take their own journey.¬† If you do, the people you‚Äôll meet are amazing.

People like Omar in a Dallas ghetto who dreams of going to medical school so he can return and care for his neighbors and ‚ÄúMs. Mamie‚ÄĚ in Jackson, Mississippi who went back to school at 80 years old.

The spiritual life-lessons learned on a trip like that stay with you through life and become a guiding force and you learn that:

Life goes on and no matter what you’re going through I encourage you to “Join the Adventure”

An Easy Choice

Clarabelle Photography and Quotes, The light is love

Words that Inspire

Words that inspire, words that speak truth, words from the heart shared with you today. Our journey’s have crossed and our souls are connected and I do hope you are doing what you love today, I know I am and I’m sharing that with YOU. ¬†Have a beautiful day, Clarabelle.

An Easy Choice

I always believed, I always knew
I had neverending faith, this was true

I gave hope a chance, to live in me
I counted my blessings, it set me free

To escape in the moment, do what I love
Creates inner peace, a connection to above

Words that inspire, warming the heart
In this jigsaw of life, it was the last part

To share my soul, to give it a voice
An inner calling, an easy choice

And now you read and now you listen
Our journey’s have crossed, dreams do glisten

I give you the key, to unlock my soul
Precious and light, making me whole

Calm the distraction, bathe in the joy
Trust your intuition, it’s your miracle toy.

My True Story

Wedding Day
(L-R)  Michelle, Yvonne, Beautiful Bride Donna (BFF), Clarabelle, Sarah-Louise

Life Saver

I want to tell you a story, a true story from 22 years ago, it is the story of the day I believe, my best friend saved my life.  I just feel I want to share this with you today and I want to dedicate this blog post to Donna my BFF, best friend forever.  Thank you for everything and more.

Accident 1

I was 18 when I was in my first very serious car accident, the police officers who visited me in hospital afterwards told me they don’t know how I got out of the car alive, because where I was sitting in the car, there was basically nothing left of it. ¬†I remember that evening so clearly, the sounds, the smells, the conversations, every one of my senses seemed to be fully enhanced.

Full Recovery

Leading up to it, there was lots of fun, joking around and laughter and then all of a sudden I was squealing in pure agony, trapped in a car I couldn’t get out of. ¬†But thankfully I did get out of it and after almost 6 weeks in hospital and one and half years with crutches I managed to make a full recovery and get back on track with my life.

That was the first serious car accident I was in but it is the second car crash that happened four and half months after the first one, that  I want to tell you about.

Accident 2

My best friend and I were offered a lift by some other friends, I was in crutches and insisted on sitting in the back of the car behind the drivers seat. ¬†There was five of us in the car and my best friend was sitting to the left of me, in the middle seat position. ¬†The driver stopped to get petrol and my best friend got out to get some sweets. ¬†When she came back she wanted me to move into the middle seat of the car but I didn’t want to go into the middle of the car, she insisted and we had a silly mini argument about it and I had enough and just moved into the middle of the car. ¬†No less than 2 minutes later the car crashed and my best friend got the full impact of the car hitting a steel pole in the middle of a roundabout. ¬†I was protected because I was in the middle, I did get crushed but with bodies rather than metal and steel. ¬†My best friend was in a really bad way, she was lying in the middle of the road and all she kept shouting was “is Claire alright, is Claire alright”. ¬†Yes, I was alright in comparison to her. ¬†She was taken immediately to intensive care and was put on a life support machine, she was given a very low chance of surviving. ¬†We said lots of prayers, I have never said so many prayers in my life so that she would get well again, we were told the chances were very slim but I always believed she would and thankfully she did and she made a full recovery within 6 months.

Saved My Life

I know that my best friend saved my life that night of the second car accident.  My body was still in recovery from the first one and I was so weak and thin, if I had been sitting in the same seat, I would never have had the strength to have survived that second car accident.  As I shared earlier, my friend insisted on changing seats 2 minutes before the accident happened, I believe my best friend saved my life that day.

Fighting Fit

We are both fighting fit now and full of health and we often now just laugh and cry about those times, not funny I know but after 22 years you start to look at things a little differently.

It wasn’t our time to go, all those years ago, God had other plans for us. ¬†Thank you so much.

Love and Strength of Friendships

I had many dark days when recovering from my accident, many many dark days, lots of tears, lots of frustrations and lots of anger built up inside of me. ¬†I was still a teenager and had a great dreams and plans that I thought, at the time, were getting taken away from me. My dad was also suffering from cancer at the time so I think that didn’t help either. ¬† ¬†Now that I reflect upon it, I think I was a little ignorant and possibly a little bit selfish. ¬†I couldn’t see past my own pain and I blamed a lot of external things for my unhappiness. ¬† ¬†These life experiences, I believe have made me a better and stronger person. ¬†My bitter thinking was all wrong at the time, I can see that now and I am sorry I felt that way, but I learned a lot, I learned a lot about myself and about the love and strength of friendships.

Gratitude

I am such a grateful person now, I have so grateful to be alive, to be healthy, to be happy and to still have my best friend in my life……forever ūüôā ¬†I treasure everything that I have and I nurture my positive energy every day.

I actually never ever thought I would share this story on my blog, but for some reason it just felt right to share it today.

In life we are faced with many challenges and sometimes at the time we are facing them we don’t see the lesson……but believe me there is a lesson and it will be revealed through time or if we take time out of the equation, through a change in our thinking.

Much love to you today, as always, Clarabelle

What is Happy Ever After?

True Happiness

I believe “Happy Ever After” has nothing to do with the “after”, I believe it is in the now, right at this very moment, because this moment, right now, is always we have. ¬†I created a poem this evening about “What is Happy Ever After?” and I also recited it on Youtube for you. ¬†I hope you like it. ¬†May this moment, right now in your life, fill you with true happiness, lots of love Clarabelle.

What is Happy Ever After?

Peace from within, joyful inside,
Gratefulness in the moment, being your guide.

The brightest star, shining on you,
The rainbow smiling, on what you do.

The deepest love, you ever could feel,
Hugging each other, on the family and friends wheel.

A kiss, a cuddle, a warm embrace,
Being in the now, no happiness to chase.

Calmness in the soul, free from stress,
Creating space, living with less.

So on this journey of life, enjoy the laughter,
This is my answer to, “What is Happy Ever After?”

What are you grateful for today?

Balloch, Scotland
Balloch, Scotland, 23 August 2013

When you are feeling the power of gratitude from within you are putting good energy into your body and also sending out good vibes into the Universe. Please take a moment to answer this question:

What are you truly grateful for today?

I am grateful for living in Scotland, I love the beautiful landscape, the “4 seasons in one day” Scottish weather ūüôā and the Scottish people. ¬†I love living in Scotland, I really do and the more spiritually aware I am becoming, the more I really appreciate its beauty.

This doesn’t mean I want to live here forever, I do actually believe I will move out of Scotland in the near future, but it just means I am really grateful for Scotland in the “here and now”.

Thank you Bonny Scotland, you truly are very Bonny indeed.

May you bask in the beauty of gratitude today, wherever you are in the world.

Lots of love to you, Clarabelle

Snap Happy

Balmaha Bay

Today I am going to go on a day trip to Balmaha Bay, Balloch, Scotland with my mum and during that trip I am going to be “snap happy” as I will be taking some beautiful photos for my new eBook that’s coming out, “It’s All About Gratitude”. ¬†I am excited about doing this and it will also be really lovely to spend a day with my mum.

I love Balmaha Bay, for me it is a place of deep beauty and peaceful tranquility and sometimes this is just what the doctor ordered. ¬†ūüôā

In 2011 I wrote a poem about Balmaha, I have already shared it on this blog before, but here it is again, just in case you missed it first time round:

Balmaha Lake
A frozen Balmaha Lake January 2011

Sweet Balmaha Bay

Balmaha, an inspiring place,
Oh how I love, your beautiful face.
The silent lake, speaks many words,
A magical paradise, beneath the flight of birds.
My soul’s at home, when I visit you,
I feel at one, below the sky so blue.
As I tie a yellow ribbon, around the old oak tree,
I appreciate your world, for all to see.
The air is clean, fresh and new,
The shimmering sunlight, makes a stunning view.
And the many boats, who sail in leisure,
Uplifting spirits, you provide great pleasure.
In hail or rain, sunshine or snow,
Your tranquil beauty, will always show.
For the depths of your heart, are in everyone,
Sweet Balmaha Bay under the horizon sun.

 Poem By Clarabelle, 2011

Wherever you go today and whatever you do, I do hope it brings you sweet happiness and fulfillment, much love to you Clarabelle. ¬†ūüôā
