PBC Poemcast 17 – How to Create a Vision Wall?

How to Create a Vision Wall

Hello and welcome to my Vision Wall post.  I wrote a couple of poems regarding the creation of my Vision Wall, you can check them out on my poems home page.  I took some photographs of my Vision Wall (see below) to share with you and I thought it would be a good idea to dedicate a whole post to it so I can take you through the creative process that I went through, in the hope that you may want to try it for yourself one day.  Below are some answers to questions around the process and some photographs I took of my Vision Wall:

What gave you the idea of creating a Vision Wall?

I am a highly Visionary person and I am really self-motivated by working towards achieving my goals in life.  I have come across the term ‘vision board’ before and thought about creating one about 4 years ago but never really got round to it.  I am so glad I waited until now to do one, as I have grown so much as person over the last few years and feel that the Vision Wall (its new name), I have created now is much more purposeful, meaningful, in direct alignment with my core values and absolutely 100% true to myself.  One of my Facebook friends from America was talking about creating a Vision Board about a month ago and this then inspired me to do one now.  I felt I was definitely ready and fully committed to doing this.

What creative process did you go through to create your Vision Wall?

  1. Firstly, I did some further research on creating Vision Boards (the original name).  I researched on the internet and came across various blogs and websites about different processes.  I then decided to fine tune and adapt that process to what I felt would work best for me.  So the following steps are based on that and completely bespoke to me as an individual.  This part took me about 2 hours.
  2. I then looked out a number of magazines, brochures, newspapers that I had lying around the house that I wanted to start going through and cut out the words and images that made an inspiring connection with me.  This part took me about 3 hours.
  3. I wanted to make the experience as enjoyable as possible, so I did some research into what music would compliment the creative process.  I chose a variety of music that I felt would work for me, such as Classical, Meditation, Motivational and Self-Hypnosis tracks.  I got most of these from searching on Youtube.  This part took me about 1 hour.
  4. When the time was right, I closed myself off from all distractions, played my music and started going through all my magazines and brochures and cut out words and images that made a real connection with me.  This was a very inspiring part of the process, I could really feel myself getting excited about the significance of what I was coming across. This part took me about 6 hours.
  5. Once I had looked through about 20 magazines/brochures, I was happy that I had cut out everything that made a real connection with me.  I then headed off to the local supermarket (Tesco) as I wanted to buy paper, crayons, glue etc…. to start my Vision Board – this was when the name changed from Vision Board to Vision Wall as I knew one piece of flipchart paper would not be suffice or indeed be as empowering, I knew it had to be much more than that, so I purchased a roll of white paper, 5 metres long to do the job.  Thus the name Vision Wall was born. This part took about 1 hour.
  6. Next, again I got myself into a quiet place, put the music on and carefully laid out the roll of paper that was going to contain all my words and images that I had cut out….then I got to work.  This was the most time consuming part but such a wonderful, inspiring experience, piecing it all together felt really amazing.  This part in total took about 10 hours.
  7. Hooray, my Vision Wall was now complete and the next challenge was getting this masterpiece of a Vision Wall up on my house wall and also deciding which wall.  I live myself, so it felt perfectly right to put my Vision Wall on my living room wall – I wanted to be inspired by it every day and in as many moments as possible, so for me the living room was the perfect home for it.  This part took me 30 minutes, after all the Vision Wall is over 3 metres long!!

  8. Honestly, I feel so proud of myself for creating the Vision Wall and more importantly its contents and what they mean to me.  The words, the images, the order, the colours and the very fact that I committed to achieving it is so inspiring for me.  I look at it all the time and I am totally feeling the benefits of producing it and having it there in front of me.  And to share this whole experience with you, this part took me 2 hours.  But the process isn’t over yet, it’s only the beginning, please read on……..

So now that your Vision Wall is complete, what happens next?

Well, as we all know, it is not just about dreaming, we have to create a plan of action to turn our dreams into reality, so that is my next step.  For each section within my Vision Wall I will now create an action plan and I will commit to following through on it.  And in those famous words by Jim Rohn, “What gets measured gets done”, I will ensure that I am measuring and evaluating my progress, this will all be included as part of my action plan.  The more results I get, the more self-motivated I become and the momentum builds into something truly fabulous for me and others around me. I know and truly believe that I will have helped thousands and thousands of people through my work – so everyone involved benefits.  “You must be the change you wish to see in the world”  Ghandi – so this is where it all starts and I am excited.

What are the benefits of creating a Vision Wall?

Now that I have gone through the creative process myself I can offer my own honest opinion of what I have personally experienced by doing this.  Here you go:

  • It’s an empowering and spiritual process which I feel was very beneficial for my own wellbeing.
  • It helped me to get especially connected to the core of my being, who I really am, what makes me tick, what inspires me, what my core values are and what will give me life fulfilment.
  • It provided me with the space to think creatively about what I want out of life, what I want for me, what I need to be, do and have to achieve all that I want.
  • It helped me to separate ‘me’ from the materialistic things in life, it got me thinking about my own mental, emotional, spiritual and physical wellbeing – who I need to be first to attract all that I want in life.  The focus was on me growing and developing as a person, not on the materialistic things in life.  This is a fairly recent shift in my thinking which is already getting me results
  • It has given me an amazing sense of achievement by doing something for me that is so powerful and impactful in my life.  It really has made me much happier inside, I get excited everytime I look at my Vision Wall.
  • It has given me the opportunity to share this experience with you in the hope that if you choose to create a Vision Wall for yourself you feel the real benefits of it the way I have done.
  • I am closely monitoring and evaluating its impact, I am noticing positive changes in my thinking, feeling and doing – I am behaving in a way that is keeping me more in alignment with the goals on my Vision Wall – I know it is seeping into my sub-conscious in such a positive way when making decisions and choices throughout my day.
  • It makes me feel just great, I can’t really explain how it makes me feel, I just love it, LOVE IT and I welcome and encourage you to create a Vision Wall for yourself one day.  In the words on my Vision Wall, I’m away to ‘Celebrate the new me‘.  Lots of love Clarabelle.

Do you feel you don’t have enough time to create your own Vision Wall?

After all it did take me more than 25 hours of my time over a 3 week period, so that’s an average of just over 1 hour per day.  How much time do you spend watching TV?  Could you give up an hour of that time and replace it with creating a Vision Wall for yourself, just a thought.  “Where there’s a will, there’s a way” (that statement’s on my Vision Wall too)!!  I do hope you choose to Go For It 🙂

Courage Will Always Find You

Challenges are a blessing, they make us stronger from within, although at the time it doesn’t really feel that way.  Courage will always find you, please have faith and know in your heart of hearts that set backs make us dig deeper and a new opportunity awaits for you.  May you create the right opportunity for you in your life today.  Much love to you Clarabelle.

courage will always find you
courage will always find you

Courage Will Always Find You

Have patience my dear, for all is well;

I see it for your future, I hear its jingle bell.

For just around the corner, is a beautiful light;

Waiting for the darkness, so it can shine on you so bright.

Challenges are a blessing, they make us who we are;

Welcome them with open arms, jump upon the star.

Courage will always find you, be brave and carry on;

Just because you cannot see it, doesn’t mean all hope has gone.

Trust in your heart, have faith in all that’s here;

This path that you are on, is quite simply crystal clear.

This encouraging little message, is especially for you;

It brings peace and loving thoughts, to make you stronger through and through.

Love Strikes Like Lightning

I love love, I really do.  I find myself writing alot about love, I have alot of it inside of me to give.  It’s Valentine’s Day next month and love is surely in the air, so this next poem is inspired by love.  May you be touched today with the greatest love of all. Much love to you, Clarabelle.

love strikes like lightning
love strikes like lightning

Love Strikes Like Lightning

Loves strikes like lightning, it grows very fast;

Shaking your world, forgetting the past.

Just when you think, all is lost;

Down comes cupid’s arrow, whatever the cost.

The red heart of love, pumps passion into you;

It’s lifting your being, and brings happiness too;

Peace is on your doorstep, calling out your name;

Your soul breathes in life, welcome to the love game.

Painting with Words

I love creativity, I love imagination, I love self-expression, I love painting with words. I feel this is where I belong, it feels like home to me, I feel I’m connected to another source when all of these come together and I know I am not the only one who feels this way when in artistic mode.  This next poem in inspired by that.  I wish for you a day where you do things that you love.  Much love to you, as always, Clarabelle.

Painting with Words

I write these words, there’s no stopping me;

Late at night, the moon shines on what is to be.

It fills up my senses, with pure delight;

Awakens my spirit, all through the night.

There’s no escaping, the beauty of this soul;

It flows so abundantly, fills up the black hole.

Painting with words, is like treasure in my hand;

A princess of all princesses, welcome to my land.

The Child in me Smiles

Sometimes when I’m writing, random thoughts and words come to mind and I just jot down what flows from me at that time.  Sometimes it doesn’t really make sense to me at that moment but then afterwards I feel the message that is coming through. This next poem is created from that, full of random words with meaningful impact.  I wish for you a day filled with meaningful actions towards your purpose.  Lots of love Clarabelle.

the child in me smiles
The Child in me Smiles

The Child in me Smiles

The hand that writes,

the pen that sings,

words of beauty,

mystical things.

Line after line,

like motion in the ocean,

Sand in between my toes,

I love your potion.

All is magical,

I’m under your spell,

The stars call out to me,

above the wishing well.

And at the core of it all,

the child in me smiles;

A special connection,

on the golden miles.

Passion Keeps You Strong

To all you creative writers out there, who share your passion with the world, this next poem is for you.  Inspired by creative flow, written in creative flow.  Wishing you all a day full of creativity and imagination.  Lots of love Clarabelle

passion keeps you strong
passion keeps you strong

Passion Keeps You Strong

To all my fellow bloggers, passion keeps you strong;

Expressions from your heart, that’s where you belong.

Creativity flows, when your soul talks to you;

Mesmerized in the moment, defining what you do.

I hear your calling, I feel it in your words;

The writing is on the wall, beneath the flight of birds.

Magic comes from you, you’re mystical for sure;

Your posts are like gold dust, to your audience they are so pure.

Faith Showed the Way

Faith for me is knowing that the unknown is going to be okay.  It is knowing that what you believed as a child would come true for you, will come true for you.  Never giving up on a childlike faith, is such a beautiful thing.  It is such a deep knowing and offers the deepest connection to your soul.  I have managed to recapture that childlike faith and it brings much love and peace to my heart.  May your heart be filled with patience and understanding that all is going to be okay for you.  Much love to you Clarabelle.

faith showed the way
Faith Showed the Way

Faith Showed the Way

The clock strikes midnight, I write alone;

A candle softly burns, glowing in my home.

Sweet whispers of the soul, speak to me;

Dreams of pastures new, big city lights I see,

Romance is in the air, it has captured my heart;

Magic awaits us, soon we’ll never be apart.

As I enter the unknown, it’s a scary thought;

But excitement carries me, under the sun so hot.

I always believed, I always knew;

Faith showed the way, now my vision is true.

Open the door to life

My day job is an Executive Coach and I work with individuals to break through barriers and make positive changes in their life.  Recently I have coached a few people who are doing just that, they are now ready and willing to face the stormy waters to eventually get to the calm sea ahead.  The weather may be changeable and challenging at times but by riding the huge waves, it makes us stronger from within.  Real change happens from the ‘inside out’, start there first.  This indeed inspired this next poem.

Open the Door to Life

What’s stopping you, from dancing in the rain?

What’s keeping you, from moving away from the pain?

The clouds will move on, the sunshine will appear;

Uplifting your spirits and filling you with cheer.

Just take a moment, to treasure all you’ve got;

I bet when you really think about it, you have such alot.

Open the door to life, let the fresh air in;

Don’t let the bumps on the road, keep you from a win.

For there comes a time, when enough is enough;

Lift your head high and challenge the rough.

Soon you’ll be amazed, what you can achieve;

Smile with an open heart and really do believe.

Rescue Me

We all go through some very tough times in life and for me it is no different.  I have lived with my own inner battles and often find, that is when my creative self-expression is at its very best, because I am living the pain but moving forward at the same time.  This next poem was written about a time in my life when I was in a challenging place, this I feel to me was a breakthrough poem.  There is always light at the end of the tunnel, believe that and you shall see and experience that for yourself.  Lots of love Clarabelle

rescue me

Rescue Me

It’s been a tough old week,

Feeling stressed, and out of peak.

But by releasing the feelings,

It allows me, to start my healings.

I’ve cried and I’ve struggled with the pain,

But I’ll use my learning to recover again.

The answer is there,

In the darkness, I stare.

Asking for help, does anyone hear?

The answer is within, there is nothing to fear.

***

So I look at my life, from a helicopter above,

Amongst the clouds, I search for the dove.

I raise my body, out of my soul,

Floating above, I see my heart with a hole.

I begin to imagine, life is so dear,

Swimming in the bluest of oceans, near the edge of the pier.

I drift back down and join my mind,

By taking myself out, the answers I find.

To appreciate life, and all it will be,

Is discovering the truth, and then you will see.

***

That to end it all now, would not rescue me,

To not wake up tomorrow, will not set me free.

Emotions are high, and the tension is real,

But to give up now, on a punctured wheel,

Is to say that this low, will not change in time,

I’m in control, for this life is mine.

So I smile with a tear, and get off my bike,

This journey ain’t over, it’s a wonderful hike.

So I lift my head high, and carry on,

The horizon is so beautiful, and from dusk till dawn, I will stay strong.

Poetry the New Therapy

I subscribe to Psychologies Magazine (UK) and I was pleasantly surprised and excited to read their 4 page article on “The Healing Power of Poetry” in their February 2013 edition.

psychologies magazine
psychologies magazine Feb 2013 Edition ‘Poetry the New Therapy’

You see, I have always felt that self-expression through my own poetry writing has been very meaningful and therapeutic for me and it was wonderful to read some real evidence of this happening in the real world, and yes people actually give poetry therapy sessions as part of their business.

I feel that my own blog here “Poems by Clarabelle” is somewhat along the same lines, I have received some wonderful messages from my blog followers who have made a real connection with my poetry in a positive way in their life.  To hear this is so gratifying because I have always tried in some way through my own poetry writings to inspire, encourage, motivate, empower, mentor, coach and softly guide others through my own poetry reflections and life experiences.

The Psychologies article by Claire Longrigg states “Poetry can transform our lives, lift our mood, and be a powerful tool for self-development” and I really do truly believe this.  The article shares some poems that can help an individual who is suffering from joylessness, fearfulness, feeling stuck and loneliness…..just have a quick look at the categories on the right side of this blog and I am sure there will be something there for you or for someone you know.

I know there are alot of talented bloggers, creative writers and poets out there and I thought it would be good to share this new found information with you.

Onwards and upwards dear fellow bloggers, I have always believed “imagination is the highest kite one can fly”….I hope you will fly yours today!!  Lots of love Clarabelle

Never Give Up

Never Give Up

Sometimes in life, I truly believe that we are meant to meet some people, I know they have crossed my path for a reason. Sometimes at the time, that reason is not clear, however, as time goes by, that reason comes to light – a big, bright, beautiful, stunning shining light, shining the way for the path ahead.  That meeting benefits both people in different ways and creates a mystical magic that grows from within our heart and soul.  I was introduced to a new friend last week and it was this person who inspired the next poem in me.  Never give up on your goal, never give up on your dreams, never give up on your vision and most of all, MOST of all never give up on YOU.  I hope this poem inspires you to take control of your life, make things happen for you and reach out for help, there is always others who want to help and I am most definitely one of them.  If you feel I can help you, then I know I can, I am here for each and everyone of you.  Wishing you a day full of inspired action towards all that you want to achieve in life.  Much love to you Clarabelle.

never give up
never give up

Never Give Up

Never ever,

give up my friend;

Keep on going,

until you get to the end.

Dark clouds may linger,

heavy up high;

But the sun ain’t gone forever,

it’s not its last goodbye.

For in your imagination,

beauty is real;

The outside is a reflection,

of how the inside may feel.

So pick up that spade,

get digging again;

Put the effort in,

to break the painful chain.

The past is the past,

the present is here;

Go for it, make it happen,

whatever time of year.

Sometimes we stumble,

sometimes we fall;

Courage grows from within,

to break down that brick wall.

Happier times are on the horizon,

I know this for you;

Believe and feel before you see it,

this you must do.

Change can only happen,

when you take control;

Have faith, take positive action,

from within your heart and soul.

Postcards from the Heart

It’s not very often that I receive a postcard these days, when I was younger it was much more common and usually every time a friend or family member would go on holiday you were usually guaranteed a postcard, which normally always arrived when they were back. However, lately, I have received two postcards from a very good friend of mine, the first one is from when she visited Berlin, Germany and the second one is from when she visited Cambridge in London,UK.  It really did make my day when I received the postcards and I have decided to pay that forward when I go on holiday – it will be postcards all round.  This next poem is inspired by just that, I hope you like it.  Wishing you an adventurous day filled with travels to wonderful worldly locations.  Lots of love Clarabelle

postcards from the heart

Postcards from the Heart

Postcards from the heart, travel very far,

Passing from country to country, raising every bar.

Caught up in the wind, making its way to you,

Filled with beautiful energy, inspiring what you do.

And when the postman knocks, to put it in your hand,

It brings with it adventure, from across this wonderful land.

It tells of happy times, memories with a smile,

And now lives in this present moment, bringing love from every travelled mile.

Love is Free-Flowing

Sometimes when I look into someone’s eyes, I just know if their soul is truly enlightened with love.  I know they want to be really happy and maybe look happy on the outside but the window to their soul never lies, it’s all about the inside.  I experienced that recently with someone and decided to write this poem for them and send it to them.  I hope you like it.  May your soul be filled with love and light today.  Much love to you Clarabelle.

love is free flowing
love is free-flowing

“Love is Free-Flowing”

I see in your eyes, no light or love;

Dead in the moment, but the rainbow is above.

You attract what you become, not just what you’ve got;

Love is free-flowing, and cannot be bought.

It’s nice to have freedom, choice and dreams;

But to enjoy it alone, bursts a heart at the seams.

Change your direction, take your soul along the path;

There you’ll meet true beauty, and with faith, your other half.

For sometimes we look so hard, and still cannot see;

Sometimes the ‘law of attraction’, works mysteriously.

It’s not in ‘the secret’, or a special treasure box;

It’s not hidden in a cave, or where the wishing well talks.

It’s found in your spirit, and blooms in the sunlight;

It brightens up your mood, full of happiness and delight.

Your paradise of love, will always find a way;

Seek truth in each moment, and loves light will shine on you today.

Happiness is the Way

I was walking home from my mum’s house the other day (17.09.12) and I found myself really embracing the moment, it was so beautiful and everything just felt perfect.  A phrase popped into my head at that time, “the piano in my heart” and I just knew I had to write a poem about it.  So here it is.  Happy New Year to YOU…..Happiness is the Way!!  Lots of love Clarabelle

happiness is the way

Happiness is the Way

The piano in my heart, plays for you,

The sweetest musical notes, so whole and true.

The solitude of love, needs no home,

On this journey of life, wherever I do roam.

Happiness is the key, happiness is the way,

The polished ivory effect, shines today.

Listen in the silence, it whispers in the breeze,

Sparkling in the moonlight, stardust on the trees.

The voice within my soul, sings without a cue,

Touching my spirit, connecting with every part of you.
