1. The Attitude of Gratitude

   Once there lived a boy named Ray,
   Who frowned and grumbled every day.
   “The sun is too bright,” he’d often complain,
   “Why must it shine and not bring rain?”

   One day he met an old, wise man,
   Who held a flower in his hand.
   “Tell me, young one,” the old man said,
   “What fills your heart when you rise from bed?”

   “Nothing!” said Ray, with a shrug and a pout,
   “There’s little to smile or care about.”
   The old man laughed and gave him the flower,
   “Look closer, my boy, and feel its power.”

   Ray saw the petals, soft and bright,
   Their beauty glowed in the morning light.
   “For this small thing, give thanks,” said the sage,
   “For joy is found in the simplest page.”

   From that day on, Ray changed his view,
   He thanked the sun, the rain, the dew.
   For every blessing, big or small,
   Gratitude became his call.

   Now Ray’s heart is light and free,
   He’s learned the key to harmony.
   The attitude of gratitude, he’d say,
   Turns even the darkest clouds away.
