I can honestly say, I’ve never felt lonely.
Even at Christmas during the awful pandemic, where I spent Christmas Day on my own, with my one person Marks & Spencers microwave meal, and a fancy bottle of champagne – that after one sip – I poured the whole bottle down the sink! I just didn’t feel that drinking champagne on my own, was a good vibe for me!
I remember that Christmas morning in 2020, I ventured out very early and took a 1 hour walk to the top of Primrose Hill to see the Christmas morning sunrise over London. It was spectacular – although a tad spoiled by the police there shouting – keep 2 metres apart!
Even though I never feel lonely, it is a real thing for some people.
About 15 years ago, I was in a local shop in Scotland, and there was an older man talking to his neighbour. He was telling them that he was so lonely and cried into his pillow every night about it.
Hearing his words, broke my heart.
I also know from my HR days, that some people fear loneliness – I had many conversations about this.

Arrange regular phone calls or coffee meet ups with your friends.
Keep your radio or TV on in the background – if you don’t like the silence too much.
Maybe consider getting a pet – dogs and cats are great companions.
Listen to your favourite music – it will help cheer you up.
These are just some ideas – what do you think would specifically work for you?
Remember to look out for others – share your kindness and friendliness.
Just a smile, can work wonders – I have a powerful story about smiling – I will share that one another day.
Stay on that joyful path.
