What is a Talent?

Strengths Finder 2.0 by Tom Rath
Know your strengths

I would like to recommend a book to you today, it is called Strengths Finder 2.0 by Tom Rath, Tom is also a New York Times Bestselling Author of the book “Wellbeing”.

I really love the Strengths Finder book because it helps you to identify what your top 5 strengths/talents are and provides you with a 19 page individualised report which coaches you into thinking how you can utilise your strengths more in your everyday life and work.

My top 5 strengths are:

1.  Futuristic – People who are especially talented in the Futuristic theme are inspired by the future and what could be. They inspire others with their visions of the future.

2.  Maximiser – People who are especially talented in the Maximiser theme focus on strengths as a way to stimulate personal and group excellence. They seek to transform something strong into something superb.

3.  Positivity – People who are especially talented in the Positivity theme have an enthusiasm that is contagious.  They are upbeat and can get others excited about what they are going to do.

4.  Woo – People who are especially talented in the Woo theme love the challenge of meeting new people and winning them over. They derive satisfaction from breaking the ice and making a connection with another person.

5.  Strategic –  People who are especially talented in the Strategic theme create alternative ways to proceed. Faced with any given scenario, they can quickly spot the relevant patterns and issues.

The following poem is also inspired by the above, I do hope you like it.

What is a Talent?

What is a talent?  What is a strength?

How is it measured?  What is its length?

Only you, can experience the feelings,

Passionate moments, purposeful healings.

Recognise this quality, treasure it well,

Captivating hearts, like a magical spell.

Your audience awaits, imagination is high,

A hypnotic transcendence, go on just fly.

What will your answer be?

Sounds of Music

There are certain sounds of music that really touch my heart and soul one of them being the classical piano tune “Satie – Gymnopedie No. 1”, it is so very beautiful, you can listen to it on the YouTube video clip below.

Songwriter

In addition to writing poetry and expressing all things inspirational I am an avid songwriter and music producer.  When I was a child there was more evidence of me getting involved in this, I used to lock myself in my room for hours and just write songs and make up little tunes to them – I was so lost in the moment, every time I did that – it was such a wonderful feeling.  I am now gradually introducing that musical art back into my life and I aim to share it here with you on this blog…..some time soon, I hope!!

Why am I sharing this with you?

I just want you to never feel that you have completely closed the door on your childhood dreams, I have re-opened mine after more than 30 years ago…..when I compose music and write songs, I feel I am that child again, lost in spirit, lost in the music and engaged with my soul.  My heart is making the calling and I am listening to it, loud and clear.

When your heart speaks, what does it say to you?

Go on….I dare you to listen!!  What will your answer be?

Lots of love to you today, Clarabelle

Painting with Words

I love creativity, I love imagination, I love self-expression, I love painting with words. I feel this is where I belong, it feels like home to me, I feel I’m connected to another source when all of these come together and I know I am not the only one who feels this way when in artistic mode.  This next poem in inspired by that.  I wish for you a day where you do things that you love.  Much love to you, as always, Clarabelle.

Painting with Words

I write these words, there’s no stopping me;

Late at night, the moon shines on what is to be.

It fills up my senses, with pure delight;

Awakens my spirit, all through the night.

There’s no escaping, the beauty of this soul;

It flows so abundantly, fills up the black hole.

Painting with words, is like treasure in my hand;

A princess of all princesses, welcome to my land.
