Let the Music Play On

No regrets

In 2011, when I felt inspired to write a lot of poetry, it grew and evolved quite nicely into songwriting.  I went through a three year spell of writing and producing many original songs, which were then professionally recorded in the studio. At the time, I shared on this Clarabelle blog, many posts about my passion for singing and strong desires for musical progression.

I enjoyed this path for a number of years, until other career plans took more of my focus, but I was very sad to let it go. I thought about it often.

This was the push and pull in my life – I was always drawn to the creative production side but the professional 9 to 5 job, with its steady income and promotions, reluctantly, seemed to always win the day!

The good thing is though, those wonderful music creations of mine are still alive today – often getting played, streamed or downloaded on popular platforms such as Apple Music, Amazon Music and Spotify.

One of my songs, “Runaway Love” was used as background music for a famous drama in Poland. I know this because BMI Music still send me quarterly royalty reports and stats.

My songs were also listed on a music library in Los Angeles, California and “Runaway Love” came very close to being selected for a movie, but the film project fell through. I had signed the music contract and everything too!

I still have a passionate love for songwriting and truly believe I’m up there with the best, however, my singing, maybe not so much, to be fair. I’d rather have Adele or Celine sing one of my original ballads – now there’s a diamond showcase!

In the meantime, I will just let my songs find their own special way into this world. You never know what opportunities might arise in the future.

Recently, I added a music page to this Clarabelle blog and now share my original music videos on it.

I guess the morale of the story is, if you want to do that thing you are passionate about, then you MUST do it. Even if you’re stepping into it and then stepping out later, you will have no regrets that you tried.

I love my original songs. They do need an upgrade, but their beautiful rawness, makes them feel extra special and very real – a rarity these days!

Below is the lyric music video for “Runaway Love“, which was released in 2013. This love song, is a favourite of mine.  Listen with your headphones on and enjoy! And yes, this is me singing.
