A Universal clock.

I know a lot of people don’t like change but personally I welcome change. I thrive in new settings, new beginnings, meeting new people, learning new things, overcoming new challenges, working in new and changing environments, I love it all. So I encourage you today, to think about what you would like to change in your life today, what little or large change could you make to your daily habits, your environment, your job, your relationships, that will enhance your skills, knowledge, experience or just make you that little bit happier and/or more content with you and your life.
Change is good, it will sometimes take you out of your comfort zone and into your learning zone.
Change is good, it can be refreshing and revigorating meeting new people and/or being in a new environment
Change is GOOD…….Change is GOOD. 🙂
Please remember, even a small change could make all the difference to your day, try a new fruit or putting fresh flowers in a dull room, it’s amazing how that can uplift your spirits.

Our lives right now are made up of a multiple of everyday decisions and choices. Look at where you’re at, it is because of the decisions and choices you made previously. Look at the decisions you are making each moment of every day, there is a lot. Are you happy with the decisions you are making? Are you owning the decisions you are making? Think about it, you might even be struggling with a big decision right now……..but hold yourself accountable to making that decision.
I read recently in the wonderful book “Think and Grow Rich” by Napolean Hill that highly successful people have this in common – they decide quickly and change slowly….simmer that one for a moment!!
Is it time for you to make the decision? I believe it is, that is why you are reading this.

It’s been over a week since I’ve posted on this blog so I do apologise for this, I haven’t forgot about you.
Being prepared for an opportunity puts you in pole position and I know this has worked for me now and in the past. Preparation is the key to making things happen because you are setting yourself up for when the opportunity takes a smile.

Now that I have swapped rainy Scotland for Sunny Dubai for a while, I sit here in my new home reflecting on the decisions and choices I made that took me here.
When the opportunity came about a couple of months ago, my mindset was strong, positive and open to change. It simply just felt right at the time and when the decision was made to go it was like the Universe opened up and encouraged me along the way.
I went out for a walk on my own last night and stayed out for almost 5 hours, I was enjoying each present moment and felt happy, content and free. I was experiencing life in the moment, in a city I had never been to before and I felt no fear, it was like this was just meant to be.
So whether I stay here for a long time or a short time, I guess time will tell. Right now I feel that this one step will lead me to greatness, a greatness from within where fear has no home.
Remember it’s the decisions that you make everyday in your life that creates your path for tomorrow. What will your tomorrow look like? One thing I do know is that my tomorrow will be hot and sunny.
This future is yours, choose well.

I love this quote below, it rings so true for me right now.
It is always tempting to compare yourself to the outcomes of another but I urge you to think only about you, how far you are progressing and if you are doing everything you can to move yourself forward and be the best that you can be.
When you think of it, it really does sound crazy to compare yourself to someone who is much further forward on the Chapters of their own book.
You are the Artist, you are the creator of your own life and you must design it your way. Yes, you may want to use people as role models but don’t compare yourself to them, use their success and achievements to INSPIRE you from within and do it your way – you know, like in the song by Frank Sinatra…..”I Did It My Way”.
Whatever you do today, just make sure you do it!!

My friend shared some very simple words of wisdom with me a few weeks ago, he told me to keep an open mind when thinking about my career development. I took those words on board when I was looking at other career opportunities because a lot of my skills are very much transferable. This thinking has now led me on to pastures new and I move out to Dubai at the end of next month to take on a new challenge.
So cast your net wide and challenge some of those limiting beliefs that may just be keeping you away from an opportunity that is truly meant for you.

At the beginning of every month I pose a question for you to answer and I also provide you with my own answer. Below is this month’s question:
A fulfilling life for me is being able to do everyday what I am happy doing and in doing that making other people happy along the way and helping them achieve their vision, where I can. There are many specifics to this but ultimately the specifics relate to how I want to feel, moment to moment. So for example, lately I’ve been thinking of doing some work in Dubai and I have had a few skype calls with the Managing Director of a company out there to see if we are both “fit for purpose”. Ultimately I am thinking about will this work give me the life fulfilment I am looking for – because the way I see it “success without fulfilment is a failure” (Tony Robbins).
So I think it is important to be successful in life but please make sure that it offers you fulfilment too and by answering this question it may help you with your next step in life.

I want to tell you a true story of how you can achieve whatever you want to achieve if you really put your mind to it – even if you have no experience at all in that field of interest.
In March 2013 I purchased myself a second-hand keyboard because I wanted to create some instrumental music. I couldn’t play the keyboard at the time but I wanted to learn – teach myself. I created about nine instrumentals within about a two week period – I couldn’t read music, I just wrote numbers on the keys with pencil and “felt the music” and I also just memorised the keys I was playing.
I wanted to transfer each musical piece onto my laptop but I didn’t have the right connecting cables. So I went into a shop in Glasgow City Centre, RS Sound & Light and got chatting to the owner of the shop, Tony. Tony was a very warm and inviting man and he sold me the cables I needed. Whilst chatting to Tony he asked me why I wanted the cables and I told him I was going to be making up my own songs – I said to him “eventually I will have my own CD Album”. Tony said that this was great and that when the CD Album is ready, to bring it into him and he would play it in his shop and also pass the CD onto other DJs he knew so they would also play it for me.
This was so inspiring for me because although I had very little music experience (practically none), Tony didn’t disregard my idea and aspirations – he encouraged and supported me with it. That was it, I was on a mission……..a passionate, exciting, true to myself mission of giving Tony my CD Album – I could see that vision, I could feel it and I believed it.
From May 2013 to September 2013 I wrote 25 songs…..from the heart, including the melodies. Between October to December I chose four of my favourite songs which I had only recorded acapella style on Youtube and hired musicians in Ireland (Denis Kilty), Canada (Gary Stitt) and New York (Shako) to create a simple piano and guitar backing track based on my melodies. In January 2014, I went to the Professional Recording Studio, Reeltime Music and recorded my very first EP, Hearts Apart, which contains these original four songs – I had never been to a recording studio before either!!
Two weeks later I had released my first single, “Runaway Love” on iTunes and other music platforms across the globe and one month after that I was holding my newly created CD Album in my hands – I cried….my tears were of joy, love and pride in what I had accomplished. One of the first things I thought of was, I can give Tony my CD now.
Almost exactly a year later to the date when I first went into Tony’s shop, I very proudly handed him a copy of my CD Album and also a copy for his daughter. Prior to that, Tony had also helped me choose my first PA system and is also supporting me as Professional Compere for my first ever public Gig on 3rd May this year in my home village of Carfin…….how exciting.
I am so grateful for all the help from Tony at RS Sound & Light in Glasgow City Centre and everyone else who has been involved in helping me achieve what I have achieved so far…..I certainly could not have done it without them. A massive thank you also goes out to my best friend Donna Marie Dick who has been amazing in helping me co-ordinate my first two live Gigs in May – she truly is a shining star.
Special thanks also goes out to my wonderful photographer who took some amazing shots of me for my music portfolio (he’s still a bit shy, so doesn’t want me to mention his name yet). There are lots of people I need to thank personally and I will…..not sure if they all want to be mentioned here on this blog, so I will protect their identity for the moment, but I know they know I am so grateful for their contribution.
So there you have it, that’s a short summary of the truth from my musical journey, how amazing is that, I feel so blessed for everything.
I had many barriers in the way…….far to many to mention but when I look at how far I have come I can only ever feel very VERY happy.

How do you express your individuality?
Here is my answer:
I express my individuality most definitely through my creative writing. My original poetry comes from a special place in my heart and my songwriting comes from the core of my soul and the melody of my songs from my happy and harmonious spirit. That’s how I express my individuality and it can be quite an emotional experience for me, but it is authentic to me and speaks only truth.
We are all so very special and unique and I feel it is so important for you to express who you really are and I would love to know how you do that.

I have set myself a new 90 Day Challenge which will start on Friday, 7 February 2014 and will last until Wednesday, 7 May 2014. This challenge is to push myself forward with my music career and achieve as much success as I possibly can in this period of time. I have decided to, take it up a level – drive into a new gear and I am excited about this.
If you would like to join me on this 90 Day Challenge that would be absolutely wonderful because we could support each other. What you would need to do is think of something that you want to achieve over the next 90 days and put your full heart and soul into achieving that. It’s amazing the results you can achieve, when you increase your energy levels and focus towards something that you really want.
This 90 Challenge will take pure passion, persistence, discipline, a positive and self empowering attitude, courage, bravery, self belief, faith and a touch of boldness. You may need to take yourself to places you’ve never been……the unknown awaits YOU but so does the success.

What do you love doing, you know that one thing that really makes you smile, that really makes you happy…..who or what is it, I would love to know what lights you up inside?
Even this very question is making me smile inside because it is taking me to happy times. I am sure this will come as no surprise to you, but I really do love writing poetry from the heart and also writing songs. What makes me even happier is knowing that these poems and songs are bringing joy to other people, that truly is the icing on the cake for me. I have a vision that one day I will be standing on stage in front of a huge audience and they are singing along to my own songs. I also have a beautiful vision of driving my car and one of my original songs are playing on the radio. This my friends, I truly believe will happen…..I just believe that in my heart of hearts.
So I hope you really think about this question today and if you’re not doing what you love, make sure you give it your priority this month, because you truly deserve to be happy doing what you LOVE doing.

I wanted to share with you 3 factors that I find are very important when leading/ working with a team.
Lead your team by example
In order to have a productive team, you must be a productive leader. Role-modelling what the employees are expected to do creates great influence, not only on the team but on the work environment itself. It will also generate enthusiasm and will inspire everybody to work more productive and harder. Sometimes it’s simply because your employees are looking up to you. Small things like being on time or being energetic may affect your employee most. This is a massive part of my game as I am always smiling and full of the well, ‘joys of spring’. However, role modelling is sometimes easily overlooked. Be careful with what you do, how you say things, and what you say to keep your team MOTIVATED.
Give ‘worthwhile’ incentives
Celebrating success within the team is HUGE. Giving your team an extra incentive aside from what they are compensated for monthly can be considered as a ‘high impact’ motivation driver. This type of motivation often applies if the performance of the whole organisation is at par with its strategy and goals, be it weekly, monthly, quarterly, or even yearly. However, keep in mind that it is not only monetary incentives that count. My team often like vouchers, ‘Reach-and-Go’s’ and any form of companywide recognition. When this was introduced to numerous teams across my company it had a positive impact on results, activity and morale! Don’t forget, ask the team what they want and compromise where possible, so your incentives will DRIVE them to win.
Listen carefully
This may seem like the easiest thing to do, but you will be surprised how hard it is to actually take on board. I know many leaders who are somewhat successful but struggle to listen. We can all hear what others are saying but to listen is challenging at best. With all your worries about your business, its targets and operations, how will you have the time to listen about how Henry forgot his lunch and now has to buy food from local amenities? It’s tough, but make a conscious effort to give that time to listen. You might think that your employees’ problems are ‘insignificant’ compared to yours, but you can’t make that call on what is important to a person and what is not. Listening to your teams concerns will be greatly appreciated. They will feel more empowered and happy since they are talking to the leader of the team.
Inspiring and motivating your team is one of the most crucial job descriptions for a leader, you can teach skills, benefits and duties but lack of motivation to the team often results to decreasing productivity and declining results. Please keep in touch http://stevendavisuk.com/

When you go for your dreams and goals in life you inspire others by your own doing. They see you moving forward in your own journey in life and it can truly inspire them too.
I have received some lovely messages from people who have shared with me that because I am going for my own dreams and goals in life, it is inspiring them to do that too. Isn’t that such a lovely thing. So by not only changing your own life for the better, you are also inspiring change in others. Like a beautiful ripple effect, your positive energy touches the hearts of others.
This is such wonderful thing and I truly do encourage you to just go for it in life because by doing so, you will also inspire others around you – this is the most amazing thing about it all.

One thing I have discovered for sure, is that if you don’t have clarity on where you are going, chances are you might just go around in circles. It’s so easy to drift when your destination is unknown, so I would encourage anyone who feels like they are in “drifting” mode to take time out to really answer that question for themselves.
It may seem like such a simple question but it can be a difficult one to answer and/or even a more challenging one to pursue. You know what you’ve got to do though and I think this is a good place to start.
Please also ensure that the destination is in alignment with your core values, what and who is most important to you in your life, your passions, wants and desires.
I would love to hear all about it, please keep me posted or better still send me a postcard from that beautiful destination, yes that one place that just feels like home, like no other. 🙂

Sometimes we can all be our own worse critic, saying things like “I can’t do this because it’s not perfect.” Life is not perfect, nothing is and if you honestly think you have to wait and get going until everything is perfect, then you might have to wait a very long time……then, my friend, you may have missed the boat!!
I have said this before on this blog and I will say it again, “perfection is in the imperfections”, just like “beauty is in the eye of beholder”. Please don’t put your life on “hold” because things aren’t “perfect” right now, think of baby steps towards progress.
If I had waited to start this Clarabelle Blog until everything was perfect in my life and in my posts and poetry, I would never have started it and you wouldn’t be here, reading this right now. 🙂 If I had waited to release my own songs until everything was perfect then you wouldn’t have the opportunity to listen to them right now. I heard someone say the other day that it can take the best part of 20 years to master something, wow 20 years is a long time, I can’t wait that long, can you?
Start where you are, NOW, hold that vision in your head and do something everyday to move you closer to your goal. It’s amazing the new people and opportunities that cross your path when you just decide to, go for it.

I once read somewhere that motivation is like showering, you need it everyday. I can honestly say that I do listen to a little bit of motivation every day, normally first thing when I wake up – it’s a great way to start the day. I created this poem below a while ago, I actually forgot all about it, until I was going through some saved notes on my iPad last night. I really do love this wee poem and I feel most people, if not all, could relate to it in some way, shape or form. I hope you like it. Lots of love to you today and always, Clarabelle.
Sometimes you don’t always, get it right,
Sometimes you can’t, sleep at night.
Sometimes the thunder, drowns out your prayer,
Sometimes you’re lonely, when no one is there.
But a lot of times your smile, is brighter than the sun,
A lot of times you skip, rather than run.
A lot of times your happiness, cheers up a friend,
A lot of times your heart, reaches the rainbow’s end.
So when life gets you down, as it sometimes will,
When the frosty ice, is making you chill.
Remember the love, warming you up,
Remember the joy in me, filling your cup.
Remember you are strong, nothing can break you,
Remember the courage living in you too
.
It’s so easy to forget, the difference you make,
It’s so easy to give, and to never take.
But I want you to know, that I am here,
Always for you, bringing you cheer.
My smile is for you, my hand is to hold,
Melting the ice, in the bitter cold.

“I’ll do it tomorrow”, I hear you say……not that I wish you any heartache or misfortune because that is absolutely NOT the point here, but what if tomorrow didn’t come…..what if you were beamed up into a strange distant land today and never had the opportunity to come back to earth again. I would miss you, other people would miss you and who and what would you miss?
We often go through life thinking “I would like to do that” but more often than not, we don’t do anything about it or we’ll say “it can wait”. Don’t over think things, just do, do what you feel, right then, right there in that moment, because as soon as you starting thinking too much, before you know it, you’ve changed your mind and maybe you’ve missed out on the greatest moment of your life, like telling someone “I love you”, you should never think too much about that one.
Please use the last day of this year wisely, let it end with a special loving memory that will live in your heart forever. Do what you need to do, do what you want to do, do that one thing you’ve always desired to do, make a commitment right now to do it…..don’t say “I’ll do it tomorrow”, just do now.
Make this day special, make this day great and please tell me all about it.

A new year is coming, this is a great time for you to decide to make positive changes in your life, you can’t turn the clock back anyway so you might as well look forward to a brighter future where new beginnings meet happy endings.

Just decide, make a plan and do…..go on, do it, I know you want to. Think about how good it will feel when you have achieved it, yes it might be hard work but when you overcome those daily challenges it will uplift your spirits and make you feel great inside. Progress is a wonderful thing, even if it’s just baby steps to achieving a better a life, a better you, when you look back you’ll see how far you have come.
The birth of a new year is a new opportunity to strengthen yourself from within and achieve all that your heart desires.

We must never think that we know it all, never, because just around the corner is always another lesson, yes indeed, here comes another curve ball – oh my where did that come from?
My day to day interaction with people is usually 100% good almost all of the time, mainly because I genuinely do love people and I have a lot of time for them. Recently though, I feel I have slipped up, just a little bit, but it doesn’t matter I have still slipped up, but the good thing is I am fully of aware of it, almost instantly and that I feel is tremendous progress. If I was unaware of it, then that indeed, I believe would be much more dangerous, especially with the job I am in, working with people every day.
Please don’t get me wrong, I have never thought I have known it all, never ever ever so I just want to reiterate that but I guess I have let emotions rule the roost and take over……never a good response that one. I read a quote recently and it said “If you speak when you’re angry, you’ll make the best speech you’ll ever regret” – such wise words and so very true indeed.
So I guess I am owning up to not getting it right all of the time, I guess I really am human after all hahahahahahah. These types of life lessons you cannot learn in a classroom or on a training course, these are the true lessons from life itself – the experiences from the experience of life.
So as I have let my conscience loose into this world i.e. this Blog, it leaves me with a sober thought of, “things can only get better” for indeed I have learned from this and I am getting better. I will continue to develop on this journey of life to reach my Best Ever Self.….some how though, I feel this is a never ending journey – not in a bad way, I believe in such a good way, always learning, always giving and always loving.
So I will leave you with my final thoughts on this one:

Goodbye to my past, I’m letting go of you,
Now I focus on the present, this beauty is shining through.
I’ve closed the door to your love and finally have moved on,
Too many sleepless nights, and worry from dusk till dawn.
I didn’t need another, to help me close the book,
I know the early chapters, were always worth a look.
But the best is yet to come, the rainbow is on its way,
It paints a bright picture, of the excited thoughts I hold today.
Each step forward, I dance between the puddles,
Like an umbrella of magic, embraced with joyful cuddles.
Some will join the journey, others will choose to stay,

Life can go so swimmingly well and then crash, down comes the biggest wave you’ve ever seen, you didn’t expect that one and it takes the wind out of your sails. But hey, this is what you’ve got to do, you’ve got to get back up again, get back on track, baby step after baby step and when you look back, you will have surely come along way. You’ve got to push yourself,
as much as you can.
Even though you don’t feel it,
it’s a sure good plan.
No lying on the couch,
thinking so low.
You’ve got to get up,
