I was researching into the greatest songwriter’s of all time and felt inspired to write. Poetic spirits can come alive at any moment. Make sure you capture it.
Recently, I decided to focus more on being in a happier state of mind. Letting go of draining problem thinking and moving my mind into radiating solutions.
My aim is to keep my vibe high, in order to attract only good things my way.
Sailing by Christopher Cross
A few days ago, I posted an article about Christopher Cross’s beautiful song, “Sailing” and I have chosen to “really believe” in his lyrical message.
Because I believe in the “miracles” he sings about, it has put my mind more at ease, and I know it’s “just a matter of time” before I expand further into greatness.
In Christoper’s words, “Oh the canvas can do miracles, just you wait and see, really, believe me”.
I do really believe and because this belief brings me joy, my inner self is elevated to a higher level, bringing more goodness to me.
Last year, I was told to “Expect the Unexpected”. It was expressed in a positive way, referring to me as being a “good person” who will always receive good surprises. What a lovely thing to hear from someone.
Yesterday, I received a lovely unexpected surprise and I believe true “miracles” are starting to show up for me. My happier thinking and feelings are welcoming them in.
I now listen to Christopher’s “Sailing” song every morning, because I believe his music is gifted with a “spiritual” message.
Your wondrous mind is so very powerful and when it’s blended with the pure goodness of your heart – there lives the miracle.
Be mindful of what you’re focussing on, because you’ll usually get more of that.
The year was 2016 and I had just moved to Northern Ireland for some temporary work and going there felt like a new and exciting adventure.
It certainly did give me that, and if I had been in a better frame of mind during my time there, I would have gotten so much more out of the experience.
When I arrived off the boat at Belfast, it took me three buses to get to my final destination – but I made it, suitcase in hand and a smile in my back pocket.
I made great friends in that little village, but my mind was very unsettled, so the whole experience didn’t last as long as I had first hoped.
Nevertheless, the first week in, I bought myself a nice wee pre-loved Volkswagen Beetle, so I could drive daily to the local gym and explore the area more.
I went everywhere in that little Beetle car – it wasn’t the most reliable, but I genuinely loved it.
One morning, I was driving to the gym, not particularly happy with my current life and its progress, but very soon that all changed.
I was listening to the local radio, when this spellbounding tune came on. It hit me instantly, like a firework had gone off in my heart. The song was “I Need Never Get Old” by Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats. I turned the volume up to the max and had the best morning drive to the gym EVER!
That song, not only changed my mood, it changed my current ‘stuck’ situation. I started to make decisions I had been avoiding and life seemed to flow more in my favour. Everytime I needed a mental boost, on went that song and I would jump around crazy dancing to it.
Below is a Youtube video of the song and I dare you not to dance to it…
I researched into the song meaning. There are a few different suggestions out there, but ultimately, I think it’s about, NEVER GIVING UP.
I read some of the Youtube comments displayed under the song – and it really has been a healing song for some people going through extremely tough times….
How beautiful, that a song can have so much power to help others in need – and that’s just what this song does.
Only recently have I started to introduce music back into my life, and I am so glad I did.
What is your favourite song and why?
I’d love to know in the comments below.
I guess, the message to you today is, NEVER GIVE UP and know that, even with the right song, happiness can be turned on in an instant.
Let your thoughts synchronize to the tune of the Universe and soon you’ll be sailing into the sunset.
Over the last week, for some reason, pink flamingos kept coming into my mind and I had no idea why.
These stunning birds make me think of powder white sand, caressing against azure blue waters, under the magnetic glow of the “golden” hour.
Pink flamingos bring this majestic beach scene to life. They represent ‘magical‘ for me.
I remember as a young child, I used to love listening to songs from the 70s and 80s. I would hide away in my bedroom, with a notepad and pen, and write down the lyrics from songs playing on the radio – music that touched me emotionally in someway.
Back then, it wasn’t as easy as it is today, where we can access a song and its lyrics, instantly from Google.
It would take me hours to complete this process. I’d have to record the song from the radio or TV, using a blank tape in a tape recorder – then continously play, pause, rewind and replay the song, just to get the lyrics right. May I just say, often I’d get the words wrong and found this out, to my huge dissappointment, many years later. Hee Hee!
It was truly worth the time consuming process, for as soon as I had those full lyrics, I would then sing that song until my heart’s content.
There was something about those songs from the 80s, that connected to me so deeply – I was hooked!
It will come as no surprise, my secret dream job as a child, was to be a songwriter – but those types of dreams were laughed at back in my day – hence I kept it a secret and became a Human Resources Consultant and Executive Coach – not even close!
So where does all this relate to the pink flamingo thoughts?
I was watching some “positive” thinking videos on TikTok, looking for inspiration for my own TikTok creations. I started to hone in on the background music being played in some of these videos – and the same song kept popping up.
This song hit me deep – it melted my soul. This breathtakingly beautiful song is called “Sailing” released in 1979 by the American Artist, Christopher Cross and the album cover is a PINK FLAMINGO. The song “Sailing” won three grammy awards in 1980.
Everything about this song is magnetic – it speaks to me in a different way, and the lyrics are so special.
The song is about producing creative art and using the theme of “Sailing” to symbolise the magical creative flow feeling us artists experience when lost in the imaginative process. It’s pure genius. Here is the link to what Christopher says about it on his website.
Today, this beautiful song has crossed paths with you – maybe for a reason!
Below is a Youtube video of Christopher Cross and his wonderful band singing “Sailing“. I’ve also added the meaningful lyrics, so you can sing along.
Well, it’s not far down to paradise At least it’s not for me And if the wind is right you can sail away And find tranquility Oh, the canvas can do miracles Just you wait and see, believe me
It’s not far to never never land No reason to pretend And if the wind is right you can find the joy Of innocence again Oh, the canvas can do miracles Just you wait and see, believe me
Sailing Takes me away to where I’ve always heard it could be Just a dream and the wind to carry me Soon I will be free
Fantasy It gets the best of me When I’m sailing
All caught up in the reverie Every word is a symphony Won’t you believe me?
Sailing Takes me away to where I’ve always heard it could be Just a dream and the wind to carry me And soon I will be free
Well, it’s not far back to sanity At least it’s not for me And if the wind is right you can sail away And find serenity Oh, the canvas can do miracles Just you wait and see, really, believe me
Sailing Takes me away to where I’ve always heard it could be Just a dream and the wind to carry me And soon I will be free
In the meantime, I’m going to use the power of my imaginative heart to ignite specialness onto the blank canvas and connect to an “out of this world” experience.
Keep the faith my friends, keep the faith my friends…..such a good statement I said it twice. Faith for me, is peace in your heart forever and if you mix that with love, true love, wow you have everything you will ever need to go forward in life. So I will say it again, “Keep the Faith”, maybe you just needed to hear that today. Lots of love to you, Clarabelle.
I haven’t produced a blog post for over a week, it’s been so busy with my live Gig etc.. last week and my move to Dubai at the end of this month.
I just wanted to share with you one of my videos from my live Gig last Saturday in my home village of Carfin, 3 May 2014. We had such a successful evening and the event was filled with lots of love and beautiful community spirit – it was so lovely to be part of.
The video that I share with you below is my original song, “I Am Here” which I created in May 2013 and I share with you, at the beginning of this video ,who it is dedicated to.
In under a year I turned my dreams into reality and I now hold those special memories of last Saturday’s Gig alive in my heart forever.
What would you like to be doing one year from now?……I encourage you to GO FOR IT!!
So I woke up this morning very happy indeed because I am so very excited about my Singer-Songwriter Showcase that is happening this Saturday night. We are expecting over 100 people on the night and it’s going to be a really great show. We have been practising for weeks and weeks and this Saturday we will be putting all the preparation and practice to test – yes, we’re going live and it is very exciting indeed.
The event will have a real family/friendly feel to it and will be filled with joyous Community Spirit, that is what I want and what we have been aiming for!! I’m going back to the Village of Carfin where I was brought up in as a child – a Village that has a very special place in my heart.
I will take lots of photos and share them with you on this Blog next week.
It’s quite funny because last year at this time I hadn’t even written one song and now I’m performing my own songs at my own Gig – it’s amazing what you can achieve when you put your mind to it!!
Question
What would you like your life to be like, one year from now?
It could all start here for you, maybe you were meant to read this blog post, maybe just maybe this blog post is for YOU, to get YOU started on fulfilling your own dreams and goals in life. I’m doing it, why not YOU too. 🙂
I love this quote below, it rings so true for me right now.
It is always tempting to compare yourself to the outcomes of another but I urge you to think only about you, how far you are progressing and if you are doing everything you can to move yourself forward and be the best that you can be.
When you think of it, it really does sound crazy to compare yourself to someone who is much further forward on the Chapters of their own book.
You are the Artist, you are the creator of your own life and you must design it your way. Yes, you may want to use people as role models but don’t compare yourself to them, use their success and achievements to INSPIRE you from within and do it your way – you know, like in the song by Frank Sinatra…..”I Did It My Way”.
Well I woke up this morning feeling very happy and excited because it is only 11 days to “Show Time”. Yes, Clarabelle’s first Singer-Songwriter Showcase is being held on Saturday, 3 May 2014 in my home Village of Carfin. Some people are saying to me that I am very brave holding it in the Village I was brought up in, but you know, I wouldn’t have it any other way. I am expecting about 100 people on the night and it aims to be a really great show. So I know I have blog visitors from all around the world but if you happen to be in the vicinity please come along, I would really love to have you there.
How amazing things can turn around if you are passionate enough about them. Last year at this time I hadn’t even written my first song and now I have written 25 original songs, produced my first EP, Hearts Apart and have my single Runaway Love released on iTunes and Amazon and I am doing two live Singer-Songwriter Showcases in May – lots of hard work and effort but it’s been worth it.
Let’s do this, let’s get this show on the road……hopefully one day I can come to your home Village and perform, I would really love that.
Your dreams are for the taking, your dreams are for the making – go get them!!
As an aspiring Singer-Songwriter it can be quite difficult to get radio play and I think most people in the music industry might say that – well that’s my perception anyway!! I have been successful in getting radio play with Skope Radio where they played my original song, “Runaway Love”, for one month, which was really fantastic. I continue to put my music out there for all to enjoy, which is really great for me.
Electronic Waves Radio
I came across an advertisement a couple of weeks ago for radio hosts for a new internet radio channel called Electronic Waves. I thought that this would be an amazing opportunity for me to apply for and help other unsigned Singer-Songwriters get their original music out there. So I applied for the position with my ideas for “The Clarabelle Show” and last night was my one hour radio audition.
I am delighted to say that I got the position as radio host, every Friday at 4pm-6pm (UK time) – so there you have it, “The Clarabelle Radio Show” is born. Isn’t it amazing how things can happen, just like that!! I am ever so delighted because I can help other unsigned Singer-Songwriters out there to gain exposure. I am “living” that experience right now, so I can fully appreciate all the hard work, passion and effort that goes into making music.
The Clarabelle Show
I invite YOU to listen in to the first ever Clarabelle Radio Show, this Friday, 11 April 2014 @ 4pm-6pm (UK time) on Electronic Waves – you’d be crazy not to. 🙂
Keep going my friends, keep going and bit by bit you’ll get there.
YOU are invited to Clarabelle’s Music Events on Saturday, 3rd May 2014 and Saturday, 24th May 2014. So if you’re going to be in the surrounding area that evening, please pop along, it’s going to be a really great night.
For all you lovely people who cannot make it because you are at the other end of the world, don’t you worry because I will be posting photos and some video recordings from the evening and you never know, maybe I’ll be coming to your home town in the future, I would LOVE that.
I want to tell you a true story of how you can achieve whatever you want to achieve if you really put your mind to it – even if you have no experience at all in that field of interest.
The Beginning of Clarabelle Music
In March 2013 I purchased myself a second-hand keyboard because I wanted to create some instrumental music. I couldn’t play the keyboard at the time but I wanted to learn – teach myself. I created about nine instrumentals within about a two week period – I couldn’t read music, I just wrote numbers on the keys with pencil and “felt the music” and I also just memorised the keys I was playing.
Clarabelle’s Keyboard
Tony…
I wanted to transfer each musical piece onto my laptop but I didn’t have the right connecting cables. So I went into a shop in Glasgow City Centre, RS Sound & Light and got chatting to the owner of the shop, Tony. Tony was a very warm and inviting man and he sold me the cables I needed. Whilst chatting to Tony he asked me why I wanted the cables and I told him I was going to be making up my own songs – I said to him “eventually I will have my own CD Album”. Tony said that this was great and that when the CD Album is ready, to bring it into him and he would play it in his shop and also pass the CD onto other DJs he knew so they would also play it for me.
Tony’s Shop in Glasgow
So Inspiring
This was so inspiring for me because although I had very little music experience (practically none), Tony didn’t disregard my idea and aspirations – he encouraged and supported me with it. That was it, I was on a mission……..a passionate, exciting, true to myself mission of giving Tony my CD Album – I could see that vision, I could feel it and I believed it.
At this point I hadn’t written any songs……but here’s what happened.
From May 2013 to September 2013 I wrote 25 songs…..from the heart, including the melodies. Between October to December I chose four of my favourite songs which I had only recorded acapella style on Youtube and hired musicians in Ireland (Denis Kilty), Canada (Gary Stitt) and New York (Shako) to create a simple piano and guitar backing track based on my melodies. In January 2014, I went to the Professional Recording Studio, Reeltime Music and recorded my very first EP, Hearts Apart, which contains these original four songs – I had never been to a recording studio before either!!
Across The Globe
Two weeks later I had released my first single, “Runaway Love” on iTunes and other music platforms across the globe and one month after that I was holding my newly created CD Album in my hands – I cried….my tears were of joy, love and pride in what I had accomplished. One of the first things I thought of was, I can give Tony my CD now.
Tony Helped Me
Almost exactly a year later to the date when I first went into Tony’s shop, I very proudly handed him a copy of my CD Album and also a copy for his daughter. Prior to that, Tony had also helped me choose my first PA system and is also supporting me as Professional Compere for my first ever public Gig on 3rd May this year in my home village of Carfin…….how exciting.
So Grateful
I am so grateful for all the help from Tony at RS Sound & Light in Glasgow City Centre and everyone else who has been involved in helping me achieve what I have achieved so far…..I certainly could not have done it without them. A massive thank you also goes out to my best friend Donna Marie Dick who has been amazing in helping me co-ordinate my first two live Gigs in May – she truly is a shining star.
Donna (L) and Clarabelle
Special thanks also goes out to my wonderful photographer who took some amazing shots of me for my music portfolio (he’s still a bit shy, so doesn’t want me to mention his name yet). There are lots of people I need to thank personally and I will…..not sure if they all want to be mentioned here on this blog, so I will protect their identity for the moment, but I know they know I am so grateful for their contribution.
So Blessed
So there you have it, that’s a short summary of the truth from my musical journey, how amazing is that, I feel so blessed for everything.
I want YOU to believe in YOU, believe in your DREAMS, believe YOU can make them happen and have faith that the right people will cross your path to help you.
I had many barriers in the way…….far to many to mention but when I look at how far I have come I can only ever feel very VERY happy.
I wish you forever happiness, I truly do. Thank you for being here.
I remember when I first heard this quote below, from Dr. Wayne Dyer – it really touched my soul. I thought I would share it with you today and hopefully it will ring some truth for you and connect with you in a special way to take inspired action.
“Don’t die with your music still inside you. Listen to your intuitive inner voice and find what passion stirs your soul. Listen to that inner voice, and don’t get to the end of your life and say, ‘What if my whole life has been wrong?”
A little bit of motivation goes a long long way. I love anything motivational and inspirational, so much so that I’ve got to get my daily fix. I usually listen to 1-2 hours of motivational stuff when I wake up in the morning and then often listen to more throughout the day when I can. Below is a list of just some of my favourite motivational and inspirational people:
Les Brown
Tony Robbins
Jim Rohn
Wayne Dyer
Abraham Hicks
Will Smith
Oprah Winfrey
Louise Hay
Rhonda Byrne
Ralph Smart
Burt Goldman
Deepak Chopra
Bill Crawford
Super Focused
This helps me to stay super focused on developing myself in order to achieve my goals and dreams in life. This journey of life can mess with your heart and mind sometimes – if you let it, so I believe it’s always good to have a mechanism or process that works for you to get you “back on track”.
My original music and poetry comes from a peaceful place in my heart and soul and I would definitely say that “hanging around” everyday with the above inspirational people has certainly helped me to achieve that and believe in myself.
So get yourself on to YouTube today and check these guys out because I know if you listen to what they have to say it will inspire you for the rest of your life.
Keep going my friends…..keep going…..keep going….and be grateful for what you have along the way.
Good Monday Morning to you. I’m going to share with you today a Gratitude Affirmation from my eBook, It’s All About Gratitude. Say this affirmation every morning when you wake up for the next week and you will really feel the benefits from it…..believe that.
Life’s Treasures
“I am so very grateful to be present amongst the beauty of life’s treasures: to love, to live, to learn and to feel so alive in this moment now.”
I am delighted to share that I posted some of my CDs to different places all over the world this week, here is where my EP, Hearts Apart went to:
Mexico
India
London
Wales
Scotland
America
Germany
Heart, Mind and Soul
It’s so wonderful that I created something from my heart, mind and soul that I can now send to people anywhere in the world. Isn’t this just wonderful because last year at this time I had no idea I would be doing this, it just evolved from this blog by doing poetry and then buying a second hand keyboard. I was also inspired by some other people along the way, people that were already singing and just doing what they love and putting themselves out there. This journey truly is a dream come true and who knows where it will lead to, but all I know is that I am following my heart by doing this and I hope that it touches other peoples’ hearts along the way.
Back to My Roots
I am so looking forward to performing at my two live Gigs in May this year in Scotland…..I will be singing my original songs in a local venue in the little Village of Carfin, where I was brought up as a child…..isn’t it funny, I’m going back to my roots…..it’s like I’ve come full circle.
Follow your heart……what does that truly mean for you?
Every month I share a question for you to ponder and I also provide you with my own answer. Here is this month’s question for you:
How do you express your individuality?
Here is my answer:
I express my individuality most definitely through my creative writing. My original poetry comes from a special place in my heart and my songwriting comes from the core of my soul and the melody of my songs from my happy and harmonious spirit. That’s how I express my individuality and it can be quite an emotional experience for me, but it is authentic to me and speaks only truth.
We are all so very special and unique and I feel it is so important for you to express who you really are and I would love to know how you do that.
Wishing you a beautiful weekend with some precious time in there for you and for you only.
Keep going, keep going, keep going……I say this mantra to myself if I sense my motivation is a little lower than it should be. Those words “keep going” help me to focus on the goal in hand again.
This week has been a very productive week in terms of planning for my two Gigs in May this year. It really is all systems go and I can honestly say people have been truly amazing, they are offering to help as much as they can and I feel so thankful for it.
Day 29
This is Day 29 of the Clarabelle 90 Day Challenge and I do feel it’s all going to plan. Taking part in this Challenge has helped me to stay super focused because I have committed myself to it and I faithfully report on my daily progress on my Clarabelle Facebook Page.
I want to wish YOU a Happy Friday and a wonderful weekend, please don’t take life too seriously and just enjoy it……be happy in everything you do.….so that really means, do the things that make you happy.
As you know I am putting my heart and soul into becoming a successful Singer-Songwriter and I guess the Universe is giving me what I am asking for.
Late on Friday afternoon I was asked to perform two of my original songs at an event that was taking place that evening. It was very short notice but I just had to do it because I need the performance experience and I really need to get myself out there. So I packed up my PA System and went along myself, only knowing 2 people in the room to start with, but by the end, knowing a lot more.
I sang my original song, “In Time We Heal” in the first half of the programme and sang my original song, “You Are” in the second half of the programme. I received lovely feedback, especially for the second performance – I am sure this was better because I felt more relaxed by then.
The main thing is, is that I said “yes” to this opportunity even though I felt a little unprepared but I know I had to push myself out of my comfort zone.
I was asking for performance experience only the night before….and I guess the Universe answered and certainly put my asking to the test.
Opportunities are everywhere in life and you know, you’ve just got to go for it…..I did on Friday night and although I was nervous, I am so glad I did it and I gained so much confidence from the experience.
Onwards and upwards my friends!!
Life is for the taking, take the opportunities when you can and when you can’t get them……create them.
I held it in my hands yesterday and I shed a wee happy tear…….what did I hold? I held my CD, my EP, Hearts Apart which contains 4 of my original songs. I feel very proud and emotional at the same time….has it been easy, “No” but it was worth it!! That feeling I felt yesterday was one of the best feelings ever….the realisation that you can really make your dreams come true if you have a enough passion, faith, heart, self-belief, determination, focus and self-discipline to do so. Sometimes you have to make real sacrifices to get hold of your dreams and you have to rearrange your life a little bit or a lot in order to get there. I’ve kept my “eye on the ball” with this one and I’m not letting go now. Yes there will be more tough challenges ahead, I know this, but I am strong and I am getting stronger everyday.
The Roots
I focused on the roots of this dream, the roots being “me” and my mind. I took control of my own mind……I didn’t let it waiver and when it tried to, well I had a motivational process in place to deal with that. Things aren’t perfect for me right now and I’m not really sure they are for anybody in this world but I can honestly say that the very gradual transition from Professional Executive Coach to successful Singer-Songwriter has overall been a happy occasion for me.
So Grateful
“The grateful mind is constantly fixed upon the best, therefore it tends to become the best.” (Wallace D. Wattles, The Science of Getting Rich)
I think one thing that has really helped me stay grounded and joyous in the moment, is the daily gratitude I have for everything in my life. I am honestly so grateful for everything I have……thank YOU love and thank YOU life. I would also like to say a massive thank you to YOU for being here and joining me on this journey…..I want YOU to have everything you’ve ever dreamed of in life….I want you to be so happy too.
Wishing you a very beautiful day today….go in the direction of your dreams but focus on the roots and the best fruits will grow. Love Clarabelle.
On the 7th of February this year I decided to set myself a 90 Day Challenge to move forward with my Singing-Songwriting Career as successfully and as much as possible. I was basically taking things up a gear and putting more effort and energy into the career transition process. I honestly cannot believe how quickly times goes by and that I am now on Day 17 of the Clarabelle 90 Day Challenge. Below is a list of some of the things I have achieved over the last 17 days:
My first EP, Hearts Apart will be available in CD format next week. I have been working closely with the photographers, designers, printers and recording studios to pull all this one together and I am so excited to have my first CD in my hands next week.
I have committed myself to organise and perform at 2 Live Gigs in the Village of Carfin where I was brought up in. The 2 Live Gigs dates are Saturday, 3 May and Saturday, 24 May 2014 and the theme of the evening is very motivational, “Yes You Can” named after one of my original songs. I have been co-ordinating a team of people to help me with this and organising Support Acts etc.. for the evening, it is all very exciting indeed.
I have committed myself to weekly rehearsals for my Live Gigs, these are rehearsals OUT of my home, on stage where I can polish my performances and practice as much as possible. I am still practising daily at home but feel I needed to get out of the house and get on stage, so I am doing that.
I have also been contacting well known Motivational Speakers to find out if there are any opportunities for me to sing my original motivational songs at one of their live events. I feel their audience is a perfect audience for my inspirational songs, such as “Yes You Can”, “I Am The Greatest”, “In Time We Heal” and “Mr Inspirational” etc…
I have always been into my fitness and if you are a regular follower/visitor of this Clarabelle blog you will know I am a keen marathoner…Well, I have been getting down the gym more often and really “going for it“, I need lots of energy to perform on stage for 2 hours non-stop and I need to look AMAZING in my super sparkly dress….so this is another focus I have, together with my healthier eating.
I have been updating my Clarabelle Facebook page on a daily basis with all my progress and tried to get other people involved in doing a 90 Day Challenge for themselves. There are a few people on board which is really great and I am so delighted for them. Here is a link to my Clarabelle Facebook page if you wish to stay updated with my progress on a daily basis: https://www.facebook.com/clarabelle.org
As you will see I have also been working on improving the look of this Clarabelle Blog and I have changed the layout to fit more with showcasing my original music and poetry. I have also added in some more professional photos from my photo shoot which took pace in Glasgow City Centre last month…..more to follow soon!!
I continue to listen to Motivational speakers every day, as I know I need to keep a strong, positive mind and stay super focused on the goal in hand. I usually listen to a couple of hours each day, this really does keep my mind staying really positive and strong. I get a lot of positive feedback on my music and poetry, thank YOU, but some times I don’t and I can read some really tough criticism, so the stronger my mind is, the better I can handle this challenging feedback. I do my best to turn this negative feedback into a positive and use it to improve what I’m doing.
I continue with my daily gratitude exercises, as shared in the eBook I wrote, It’s All About Gratitude. I set up a Gratitude Facebook page so I could share the wisdom and learning from this eBook with others. If you wish to check it out, here is the facebook link for, “It’s All About Gratitude” Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/itsallaboutgratitude
I have also been working with designers to create a new Clarabelle T-Shirt design. I think the designer did an amazing job, see photo below. What do you think?
Loving This
So, there you have it, that’s a very brief update on my progress so far over the last 17 Days and I must say I am loving this 90 Day Challenge I set myself, it really is helping me to stay super focused and “on the ball”. I know I am entering a very tough industry….well, so everyone keeps telling me, but I must stayed focused on my goal in hand…..let’s see how far I get…..this transition is not a sprint it’s a marathon and well after running 3, I think I have the right attitude and stamina to go all the way. What do you think?
Thank you, as always, for being here and for your continued love and support, I really am truly grateful for it and I do really mean that sincerely. Thank YOU, Love Clarabelle
There are many things that have helped me to stay grounded, mindful in the moment and to feel truly blessed for what I already have in my life. Yes, I want to achieve my dreams and become a very successful Singer-Songwriter but it’s so important to enjoy the NOW as much as I can. I want to enjoy and embrace each baby step of the way.
My Grateful Heart
One thing that has really helped me on this journey is my grateful heart. Everyday I practice the art of being grateful for everything I already have in my life and even if I’m having a tough day, thinking about what I am grateful for, instantly uplifts my mood.
Rhonda Byrne
My attitude of gratitude really became more intense after reading the book, “The Magic” by Rhonda Byrne, Rhonda is also the Author of the famous books “The Secret”, “The Power” and “Hero”, which I have also read. The book, “The Magic”, I feel came at the right time in my life and it inspired me so much that I decided I wanted to write my own book about Gratitude and its positive benefits.
The Science Behind Gratitude
So for 4 months I studied and researched further into it….I looked into, “The Science Behind Gratitude” and what other credible successful Professionals and famous individuals were saying about it, such as Oprah Winfrey, Dr. Brene Brown, Deepak Chopra, Dr Robert Emmons, Jack Canfield….. and the list goes on – I share some of what they say in my eBook.
My Dream Journey
I truly believe that being grateful everyday has catapulted me even further on my dream journey of Singing-Songwriting, I just know this. I feel this dream of mine evolved from starting this blog in April 2012 and it is the visitors and followers of this blog that I am so grateful for, over 23,000 hits and counting!!. You have inspired me to “keep going” so I only felt it was fitting and right do dedicate my Gratitude eBook to you, so I did, thank you. 🙂
How Do I Practice Gratitude?
This is a question that hopefully I answer for you within the eBook. There is a full section (photo above) on this with a number of practical gratitude exercises for you to do. It really is important you do them though because it’s like creating a new habit and embedding a new behaviour and positive way of thinking into your heart, mind and soul. Once that spiritual connection of a grateful heart is made, just you see the good things that come into your life….and they will!!
Where Can I Get Your eBook?
The eBook is available from Amazon Kindle (Kindle format) and Gumroad (pdf format) and costs less than a cup of coffee from Starbucks and less than a Happy Meal from MacDonalds and believe me this eBook will make you much happier…..and for the long term!! I wrote this eBook with a grateful heart for your grateful heart, in the hope that it will help you on your own journey towards your dreams. Thank you for being here, love to you, Clarabelle.
I had some professional portfolio photographs taken last month in Glasgow City Centre. Below is a little preview of some of them, I think the photographer did really great, what do you think? Keep smiling through the storms my friends, for soon a beautiful rainbow will appear. Much love to you, Clarabelle.
My mum tells me that her memories of me as a child, is that I was always singing, all the time, from morning till night – she said, I wouldn’t stop. Then I did one day and it took 30 years to come back. This Clarabelle sound that you hear now, I believe is still the sound of the inner child in me…..a child who believes in the beauty of her dreams. This poem is a mirror part of that story and a true reflection of me, I hope you like it. Lots of love to you today, Clarabelle
She Was 5
She was 5,
her heart did sing.
Every day,
about everything.
She had friends,
so happy and true.
Little children,
smiling through.
They played games,
had lots of fun.
Carfin was the Village,
under the sun.
Talent shows,
we’d give it our all. “Come in for your tea”
Mum would call.
So much laughter,
living in joy.
The happiest times,
for each girl and boy.
Then she got older,
singing no more.
A typical teenager,
closed every door.
But as time went by,
30 years on,
the silence awakened,
and her light it shone.
Uncovering her soul,
being true to her heart.
The singing came back,
the most fulfilling part.
The friends of her childhood,
will remember this song.
“Dreamer” was the title,
our voices were strong.
We might have been children,
lost in the crowd.
Holding hands in the limelight,
our parents were proud.
When we let go,
sometimes wrong or right.
True dreams are like a boomerang.
They will win any fight.

Yesterday I was doing some singing practice at home and I video recorded the NEW version of my original song, “Yes You Can” for you. This motivational song with empowering lyrics has a “Country Music” vibe to it and this song will be on my second EP entitled, “You Can Do It”. Below is a YouTube video of me singing the song yesterday and here is a taster of the lyrics for you:
“Keep your dreams alive, for they are so special, Let your happy spirit thrive, have strength and be strong. This is where your heart belongs. Yes You Can…..”
Wishing you a “Yes You Can” Day, lots of love, Clarabelle
If you are a regular follower of this blog, you will be aware that I did my very first home Gig last Friday night and I wanted to share with you a very short summary video from the evening. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and I hope you can see that from the video. I’m moving forward step by step, taking myself out of my comfort zone and embracing the growth and change. Thank you for all your support and encouragement, I am absolutely over the moon that you are here. Thank YOU. Lots of love, Clarabelle
I am delighted to share with you today, the lyric video that I got created for my original song, “In Time We Heal”. The song is about overcoming tough times in life and I hope you like the song and the video. May today be your breakthrough day. Lots of love, Clarabelle.
Well tonight’s the night that I do my first ever Gig and I’m really excited. This one tonight is just a private Gig for close family and it will be really good to have a very encouraging and supportive crowd first time round. Lots of planning, practice and preparation goes into even such a small Gig like this, but at least it will prepare me for when I hit the BIG TIME!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂
Tonight’s Gig will be recorded on video and I will share some of it on here in the near future, so please look out for it.
Below is a wee poem I have just created about tonight, I hope you like it. Thank you for being here, love Clarabelle
Tonight’s the Night
All the planning, all the prep. Another song, another rep. Exciting times, passionate heart. Dreams taking shape, and this is one part. I thank you all, for being here, By my side, I love you dear. So as the curtain falls, I smile from within, My destiny has awakened, it’s a musical win.
I am delighted to say that I have reached an important milestone in my new Singing/Songwriter career path. My single, “Runaway Love” has now made it on iTunes today and I am so excited. It’s been exactly 6 months and 2 days since I wrote the song, all alone in my little cosy home in Motherwell, Scotland.
Vision
I had held this Vision in my head and heart since I started this journey and although I have a long way to go, I feel very proud to see my original song displayed on iTunes. Here is the link for you to see: https://itunes.apple.com/gb/album/runaway-love-single/id808343271
I feel I am progressing quite nicely and I am doing my first private gig this week, so all very exciting. I am pushing myself out of my comfort zone and I know I am growing by doing this – this is such a fulfilling journey!!
Singing Poetry
I started this Clarabelle blog mainly to share my poetry and it has evolved into so much more than that. The blog, I feel, has gently and graciously guided me into my Singing/Songwriting Career, for sure. I like to call my songs “Singing Poetry”, original poetic verses with a beautiful melody.
So it just goes to show that if you are passionate about something in life YOU can make it happen, you’ve just got to take that first baby step.
May each step that you take today move you closer to achieving your dreams. Thank you for being here.
I hope you liked the first introduction animation video I shared with you on yesterday’s blog post of the butterflies surrounding the Clarabelle logo.
I am delighted to share with you today the second introduction animation video that I got created, this is an animation video of the unveiling of the Clarabelle logo. Thank you to Adam Smith from USA for creating this for me, Adam did an amazing job.
I’ve been working with some wonderful Artists to help me develop my original music and help me to “get it out there”. Below is a video that has just been created for me, for my original song, “Runaway Love”. Thank you to Calvin West www.calvinwest.co.uk for creating this for me, you did a great job. Now you have the lyrics, you can sing along too. I hope you like it. Much love to you today and always and please feel free share with your friends. Thank you. Clarabelle
Wow, I am so excited and I just thought it was right to update all my visitors to this Clarabelle blog, especially for those of you who have been following my new music journey.
Original Songs
I uploaded 4 of my original songs onto the music membership website, Music Ray late last night and I now have 6 “Official” fans, woo hoo, this is absolutely amazing for me. I am so happy I could cry….but I won’t, I’ll dance around my living room instead. 🙂
A very special thank you to all of you for your continued support and encouragement whether it is my original music, poetry or inspirational blog posts – long may it continue.
I have been in the Professional Recording Studio this week (Reeltime Music Studios) recording my very first ever EP, entitled “Hearts Apart”.
Runaway Love
Below is a Youtube video of track 4 from this EP “Runaway Love” which was released yesterday (09.01.14) from this EP. I am singing on the track and Denis Kilty, www.deniskilty.com arranged and played the piano backing track.
I know I have still got a long, huge, MASSIVE way to go but hey I only started doing this in May 2013 so I am definitely pleased with my progress. There is still lots to do in terms of promotion, vocal coaching, practising, performing, gigs, Album covers, websites, professional photographs, videos etc etc etc however why wait, let’s get my music out to the Universe, I’ve just go to go for it. If I wait for perfection then no one would hear anything!! I like to think that “there isperfection in the imperfections”.
What is the Song About?
Runaway Love is a highly emotional love song about the emotional pain of being in love whilst having the sense of being “played” but you still love that person and the memory of that love is still in your heart.
All my songs are based on my own personal experiences or experiences of people very close to me so I am sure the words will ring true for some people listening.
Here is the Youtube Link Below for Runaway Love:
If you would like to purchase instantly a mp3 file of the track, Runaway Love, then please click HERE.
Thank you and please let me know what you think of the track.
Clarabelle Practising for the Professional Recording Studio
Professional Recording Studio
I am delighted to share with you that yesterday I experienced my very first professional recording of my original songs. I am making my first ever music EP, entitled “Hearts Apart” and I am so excited. A big shout out to Chris, Professional Sound Engineer from Reeltime Music Studios who was an absolute gem and totally made me feel at ease. Was I nervous? “Yes” a little bit, but I think more excited than nervous because this just feels right to me. I will be the first to say that I am very inexperienced in the Music Industry and I know I have a huge learning curve ahead of me but the great thing is I am not holding myself back, I am just facing my fears and going for it!! I know that if I stay in my comfort zone here, I will never grow so I have to get comfortable feeling “uncomfortable”. Basically as a Professional Coach, I am practicing what I preach….quite literally!!
EP, “Hearts Apart”
The EP will consist of four songs, I did take up six to record but two could not be used at this moment in time because one of the songs I am finding it difficult to master, so much more practice needed there and the other song needs a better quality backing track. So the songs on the EP are:
1. In Time We Heal
2. I Am Here
3. You Are
4. Runaway Love
What are the songs about?
All the songs are love ballads with a very highly emotional attachment to me. I speak my heart’s truth and cry out my soul in these songs because they are all based on my own experiences or experiences of people very close to me. There is nothing hidden away in these songs, my deepest heart’s secrets are shared because they are true and very personal to me. I like to call them “beautiful songs” because I feel that is what they really are.
In Time We Heal: An emotional song about a broken relationship and overcoming tough times.
I Am Here:
A highly emotional song about missing a loved one (my Dad in heaven).
You Are:
This is an emotional love song about loving someone who doesn’t love you back but you still have that person on a pedestal. Emotions are torn between loving and letting go.
Runaway Love:
This is an emotional love song about the emotional pain of being in love and the feeling of being “played” but you still love that person and the memory of that love is still in your heart.
Master CD
I am so excited to share the finished article with you, I should receive the master CD in a couple of days and then I’ll get to work with unleashing my songs into the Universe.
I loving this creative journey and I feel, “this is my time”.
Thank you, as always, for being here, there is a lot of love here for you.
Wishing you a beautiful day on your journey of life.
I received one of the biggest compliments ever recently from my friend. We were getting the bus down to Manchester City Centre to celebrate the New Year and she told me she really liked one of my original songs, “In Time We Heal”, then, to my wonderful surprise, she started singing it and she knew the words….wow I was so chuffed. She said to me that she really liked the song and played and sang along to it many many times. Well, I was blown away with delight, that was such an unexpected thing to hear because I had no idea she listened to my stuff. Her telling me that really made my day, as a matter of fact it made my whole trip.
Recording Studio
I am really excited because I head to the professional recording studio for the first time on 8th January to record 7 of my original songs for an EP (Extended Play), so soon you will hear them on this blog. Below is a sample Youtube video of me practising my original song. “In Time We Heal” and also I have attached the Soundcloud link to Gary Stitt singing it – Gary arranged the piano backing track for this song and I think he did an amazing job.
The song “In Time We Heal” is about going through tough times in life but overcoming them in the end and I am sure we can all relate to this. All my songs are based on my own experiences or experiences of people very close to me, I think that is why people are connecting with them so much.
Listen to the words and stay strong my beautiful friend because indeed, “In Time YOU Will Heal”.
At the beginning of every month I pose a question for you to think about and answer for yourself. I also provide you with my own answer to this question. Below is this month’s question.
Usually I offer you up a question that relates to moving forward with your life for e.g. making a change or a question that will help you to become more self aware. This month’s question is a little bit more simple (well, for me) 🙂 .
Question:
What is your most favourite piece of music or song, right now, in this moment and why?
My Answer:
I really do love lots of songs and music compilations, I have a deep respect and appreciation for music and I really do admire the musical talents of Artists.
The one song that I have been listening to recently and really does inspireme, is a song called “Try” by the Band “The Modern Hearts”. I really LOVE this song, because I can relate to the words, which uplift me, inspire me andawaken my soul inside….to me, this song is quite simply magical and captivating. When I play this song, I want to dance, I just start jumping and moving around on the living room floor like a 2 year old on Christmas Eve excitedly waiting for Santa to arrive. What an amazing impact a song can have on you.
Here is a SoundCloud link to the wonderfully inspiring song “Try” by the Band “The Modern Hearts”, right now, this song is number one in my heart and soul: https://soundcloud.com/modernheart/try
I would really love to know what is your favourite song and why and also what positive impact it has on you too?
I have been practising singing my original songs before I head up to the recording studio in January to record my very first EP and I am soooooooooooo excited.
Just thought I would share with you some video footage from this, which I am calling my very own “Living Room Gig”, so welcome, I hope you enjoy. I have still got a long way to go before it’s perfect but as they say practice makes perfect and I am certainly doing that.
It is with great pleasure that I share the following sample music track with you. This is another one of my original songs, called “I Am The Greatest” and the piano backing track has been arranged and is played by the super talented Gary Stitt from Canada, Gary is also singing the vocals in this sample song track.
Motivational
The song is very motivational and is about making positive changes in your life, going for your dreams and goals in life and truly believing in your greatest potential – I have also included the lyrics below for you.
Please let me know what you think of the music track, I will be heading to the recording studio soon to put my own vocals on it.
Thank you as always for your continued support and encouragement. Clarabelle
You’ve gotta put the hard work in
And let your mind know
In order to catch the falling star
You’ve gotta move and go
Time it will not wait for you
Life moves very fast
So step it up, get going
Live it up, get showing
Say I Am
Chorus
I am the greatest
I’ve changed my ways
I’ve reached the rainbow
Happy sunny days
For I am the greatest
So watch me fly
I am the greatest
This is why
Verse 2
Times are tough I know sometimes
Keep going until the end
To reach the top you have to go
Be real do not pretend
You can be the champion
You can have it all
So live it up, get moving
Play the game, get grooving
Say I Am
Bridge
I feel my heart
I feel my soul
In changing moments
This I know
Chorus
I am the greatest
I’ve changed my ways
I’ve reached the rainbow
Happy sunny days
For I am the greatest
So watch me fly
I am the greatest
This is why
This is why
I will fly

Below are some samples of Shako at work from his YouTube Channel. Thank you Shako.
I am so excited to be working with the above talented Artists and I look forward to sharing my Album tracks with you here on this blog, they have been a long time coming, but worth the wait I am sure.
Thank you for reading this blog post and joining this creatively inspiring journey with me.
I wrote this song because I wanted the lyrics to inspire people to really believe in themselves and go for their dreams and goals in life. The song is entitled, “I Am The Greatest” and I want the person singing along to it, to really believe that they are and to feel encouraged and empowered by the words from within. Inspiration is everywhere and I do hope you find some of it in this song. Below is the Youtube video of me singing it for you. I am still working on the backing tracks but I didn’t want that to stop the process of me sharing this with you. 🙂 Wishing you a day filled with love and inspiration, love Clarabelle.
As you know I have been writing a lot of my own songs recently and the first few that I wrote about were love songs and then I went through a phase of writing some more motivational songs. This next song that I share with you below is one of the more motivational songs, it is called “C’mon You”. For those of you who are not familiar with the Scottish banter, “C’mon” means “come on” and in this song it really means “lift yourself up and get a move on, get back in the game”. I hope you like it. So wherever you are today and whatever you are doing I hope you make it a “C’mon You” day. Lots of love to you Clarabelle.
Here are the lyrics for you, so you can sing along if you wish 🙂
C’mon You by Claire Marie Murray 22.07.13
Verse 1
Let me tell you a story
Life may beat you down
But you don’t have to take no more
Just let your spirit shine
Believe in your passion
You can have it all
Show a little compassion
Break down the tough brick wall
Chorus
So C’mon, you can do it
C’mon, this I know
C’mon, yesterday’s over
Oh C’mon you, let’s go
Verse 2
So now I’ve shared my journey
Go and live and your life
Time it will not wait for you
You won’t be living twice
Know that you can do it
You can achieve it all
Hard work will get you through it
Soon you’ll be standing tall
Chorus
So C’mon, you can do it
C’mon, this I know
C’mon, yesterday’s over
Oh C’mon you, let’s go
Bridge
C’mon life aint gonna wait for you
Get back up – you can do
All you put your mind to
When you feel pain, see it through
Chorus (to fade)
So C’mon, you can do it
C’mon, this I know
C’mon, yesterday’s over
Oh C’mon you, let’s go (repeat to fade)
Sometimes you just have to believe that YOU are the greatest, you have to believe in yourself, you have to believe in your abilities, you have to believe that you are capable of achieving so much more. You have so much potential, there is so much more of you to unleash, so much more of you to share with the world. Now I want you to hold onto that thought and I want you to flip an imaginary switch and when you do, you 100% believe in you, now watch what you are doing, look at who you are talking to, What changes are you making in your life? What are you doing differently? Just believe, just believe, just believe in YOU. I wrote the lyrics, “I Am The Greatest” (see below) last month because I was strongly visualising myself being the greatest songwriter of all time and then I wrote it down (picture above).
Vision
I believe, I have faith in the unknown and I know the Universe is working in my favour and bringing it to me. I made the decision, I made the commitment and I acted upon it, I now treasure every person and thing that I attract into my life that moves me closer to my vision.
YOU
Now I want you to believe in you, believe in it all, believe and have faith in the mystery of the unknown, that once you commit to doing something, once you commit to achieving that goal, it’s going to happen for you, sooner or later it is going to happen for you. You are the greatest and I want you to believe that.
Below are the lyrics to my song, “I Am The Greatest”, this will be released as part of my Album, “The Becoming of Me”, I think the melody that goes with this song is really great, it is really uplifting and empowering, definitely a song to be listened to first thing in the morning or when you are feeling down and want a little boost, the song will definitely do that for you.

My friend Sharon and I are having some fun time this weekend in Manchester City Centre, this is the view from the famous Cloud 23 Bar at the top of the Hilton Hotel we are staying at. This is fun, this is dancing, this is sweet happiness and I am very grateful. Wherever you are today, let the fun in your heart shine, love Clarabelle.
City Lights
Sweet sweet city lights
Feeling good rainbow heights
Smiley faces, having fun
Dancing like number one
All is cool, wild and free
Cuban nights, you and me
Glitz and glamour, make me shine
Feel the beat, rhythm and rhyme
One more dance, one more song
My heart is happy, I am strong
